amen to that. Imagine if you will, a premiership footballer in his BMW X6 boasting to the orange plastic chested woman in the passenger seat about how fast it is, then having an LM002 pulling up next to him. How is it ugly? I think it looks great, like a Landie and a Hummer had a quickie in a cleaning cupboard. And if you did buy an ex Gadaffi car, how cool would it be to say you can mount a machine gun on the back.

But 76 gallon tank? Ouch, at least petrol has come down a bit lately. But it would still be 342 litres, so at 83p for unleaded, you're looking at £285 to fill 'er up, but of course you would run something like that on V Power/BP Ultimate/Tesco 99 etc, which is around 90p where I live, so £310 for a fillup. Ouch...

I'm sure there was a PH'er that had one in his/her previous list. Dealmaker maybe, I know he had a Hummer H1 in there at some point...

Styling by Lego...

Mate of mine used to be in the specialist trade and told of tyres costing £1500.

Each... yikes

Also aircon pipes would spectacularly blow up if not used often, shooting refrigerant gas out of the bonnet vents.

"Not politically correct? Moi?"

And mildly inaccurate.

The 7 liter engine wasn't more powerful, I remember that being rated at about 370hp? More torque than the 5.2 though.

It's a nice reminder that these ridiculously heavy off-roaders are a waste of whatever great engines (Lambo V12 in this case) that power them. wink

The article has it all wrong. Lamborghini are nutters. Look at the Countach. This thing should be worshipped as a manufacturer going batst - even Lambo have become a bit sensible these days. I am sad. frown

Didnt they have carbon fibre side walls to help them cope with the weight and something else rather trick to help them cope with sand? (very hazy memory now!).

Nevertheless, I'm surprised by the article. I can see the point he's making, but - well, I disagree hehe

As a friend of mine always says; "thanks for your opinion, but you're wrong" hehe

Damn right its a legend. Everyone my age had a Countach on their bedroom wall and also wanted the almost mythical LM002.

It was so mental, so completely hat stand that every young boy was floored when they saw it "WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!"

PH Hero not a Zero.

I love these, they're like Hummers but not for complete wkers....

It also makes me laugh that back in '86 the size and bulk of it were considered shocking but nowadays compared to a Range Rover, Hummer H2, X5, Disco' or Cayenne the figures are fairly standard - seems to me that the LM002 was just ahead of it's time.

For a bonus point who can name the film it was used in?

I think the carbon fibre was there to bullet-proof the tyres as much as anything else - I may be wrong, but it sounds good.

And didn't "LM" stand for "Lamborghini Militari"? Seem to recall they had an eye on desert warfare as a potential (niche) market.
