RE: PH Zeroes: Rambo Lambo
Discussion
Some Arab who lived a few blocks away from me when I was in Dubai had one of these in bright yellow. It was always the highlight of the day anytime I heard it. One of the most stunning engine noises on the planet.
He once pulled up next to me at the lights and I opened all the windows of my dodge and pulled away slowly just so that the sound of my V8 did not pollute the sound of the lambo giving it full beans up the road.

For a bonus point who can name the film it was used in?
Robin Williams - Toys?I nearly bought one of these when I was working in Saudi. It was bloody amazing, and sounded fantastic. It was cheap as chips too (about £12K), but had no history etc. The car seemed to run fine and was in need of a paint job. Interior was mint. In the end I didnt buy it but regret it to this day.
But I guess something rubbed off on me, as now I drive a Merc G Class instead!

These things are ferkin' brilliant!!
Can't remember (as per usual) if it was Fast Lane, Car or PC that wrote an classic article (with some lovely night shots of the thing) about these, including how many free glasses you'd collect from petrol stations.
I loved the flippant reason for it's lack of success with the US Military being based on the realisation that balancing 6 carbs while under enemy fire wasn't an ideal situation....

Nope, its a PH Zero. Not a good car, and sold in very limuted numbers- 201 sales to the public- just a few every year.
And the cost spent developing and tooling for it could have made the Countach so much better. Or the Diablo better. Or their early 90s F1 effort could have been more successful
Bonkers it may have been. But with hindsight Lambo should not have made it. Their cash (never in much supply) could have been better spent elsewhere

Okay so you had one of these offered to you for £12K and DIDN'T BUY IT!

Not as straight forward as that. There was no-one in Saudi who could work on the car that I knew of anyway, not for a reasonable price that is. Parts are crazy expensive, and it was at a time when £12K was a lot of money for me. I tried to flip it in the trade in the UK but didnt get much luck.Go away and find a herd of elephants to stamp on your nuts whilst you think long and hard about what you did!!!!
If I saw the car now I would buy it without thinking. So please leave my nuts out of this.

Mate of mine used to be in the specialist trade and told of tyres costing £1500.
Each...
Didnt they have carbon fibre side walls to help them cope with the weight and something else rather trick to help them cope with sand? (very hazy memory now!).Each...
And didn't "LM" stand for "Lamborghini Militari"? Seem to recall they had an eye on desert warfare as a potential (niche) market.
All that we know is that the LM002 is soooo not a zero. Total hero. Utter bonkers, we need more cars like this!

I love these, they're like Hummers but not for complete wkers....
It also makes me laugh that back in '86 the size and bulk of it were considered shocking but nowadays compared to a Range Rover, Hummer H2, X5, Disco' or Cayenne the figures are fairly standard - seems to me that the LM002 was just ahead of it's time.

Is it not based on a Hummer?
I'm sure I remember reading that years ago - but maybe I just made the assumption due to visual similarities.
Like I said, think it's the other way round... The LM002 existed WAY before any Hummer was built...I'm sure I remember reading that years ago - but maybe I just made the assumption due to visual similarities.
BTW, one up for the Hero camp. Think they're absolutely mental
