RE: PH Heroes: Aston Martin V8 Vantage
Discussion
I love those V8s. There is an issue of "Car" magazine from the early eighties with a cover picture of the Vantage, the F 512BB, the 930 Turbo and , I think, the Countach all travelling abreast, with the caption "Finding Out".
Massively desirable, and I imagine, massively brutal to the wallet. My one complaint is the wheels. I just don't think those Ronal/BBS style wheels suit the character of the car. Too delicate to fit the muscular style of the car.

Proper car, nice article.
Those wheels on jhoneyball's Vantage are the only non-standard rims I've ever seen on a V8 that look better than originals, good work that man!
As an aside,a couple of years ago I was at a polo match at Windsor, when The Prince of Wales arrived in his Vantage. He could be heard about a mile away, obviously not hanging about, and as he pulled up in a cloud of dust tinged with the unmistakable hint of brake pad,it was amusing to see his grinning bodyguards slide the back end of their Omega estate on the last bend before the carpark.Quite clearly struggling to keep up!

Great cars. My dream car from when I was a nipper always coming close to buying one but never did till last year.
Dream come true and even if I couldn't drive it I'd never tire of looking at it.
Open the door and you get that wonderful rich smell of proper leather not like todays cars.
Truely awesome.

Would be interesting to have a picture taken of the front looking slightly down side by side with the Mustang...if you've got nothing else to do!Dream come true and even if I couldn't drive it I'd never tire of looking at it.

The important question however is this - is it as good as a mapped BMW 335d?
If you even have to think about that question, you don't deserve one. You're missing the point. The important question however is this - is it as good as a mapped BMW 335d?
Quad-cam all alloy hand engine in a hand built car with Wilton carpets and Conolly hand stitched seats or straight-six diesel off the production line?
This is about as good as cars ever got.

I said something similar about Aston and TVR over Christmas and he took right offence.
