mine -- the one in the youtube video being "driven like ya stole it..."
So gorgeous it hurts.
A Vantage is the only car I'd ever buy 'because it's an XYZ'. Not interested in badges generally but there's something so goddamn desirable about them, that I will get one if finances ever allow - irrespective of what it actually turns out to be like. Sure they are great, but it doesn't really matter - just

The important question however is this - is it as good as a mapped BMW 335d?
If you even have to think about that question, you don't deserve one. You're missing the point. The important question however is this - is it as good as a mapped BMW 335d?
Quad-cam all alloy hand engine in a hand built car with Wilton carpets and Conolly hand stitched seats or straight-six diesel off the production line?
This is about as good as cars ever got.
It's the one car I've ever really wanted (The Aston, not the Beemer)

Would be interesting to have a picture taken of the front looking slightly down side by side with the Mustang...if you've got nothing else to do!

Proper car, nice article.
Those wheels on jhoneyball's Vantage are the only non-standard rims I've ever seen on a V8 that look better than originals, good work that man!
Thanks -- it was kindof a necessity -- getting 255/50/16 tyres is damn hard. There are a few stocks of ancient michelin pilot mmx (hard as nails) and michelin pilot sport (nice, but v noisy). There is a kumho which is sometimes available, and michelin occassionally make a small batch. Those wheels on jhoneyball's Vantage are the only non-standard rims I've ever seen on a V8 that look better than originals, good work that man!
But if you drive your car any distance every year, and especially if you drive hard, then the tyre situation is a real worry. Same for 20yo ferraris etc -- look at the age of some of the michelin trx tyres out there.
Fortunately, compomotive could drill those wheels to the same stud pattern as the 16" ronals - so I can unbolt them and put the ronals on for concours reasons. not that I will do the concours any more, the amoc one is a waste of time if you actually use your car.
Car has 265/40/18 pzero rossos now front and back -- stunning grip and steering.

Very special cars. Fuel injection was good when it worked, but was so unreliable a lot of people went back to the 48 IDAs. Probably true that Aston didn't pay Bosch on time though. They were a bit short of the readies back then. Nice to see Rikki Cann's V8 on the YouTube video, but was it him driving? They didn't seem to give it the beans that Rikki usually does. Goes like stink when it is flat out!
I do about 5k per year now -- i did hit 22k in one year a few years back. Bought car in jan 00 with 28k miles on clock -- now has 96k.
Running costs. Completely scary. 5k per year, minimum, if you take into account stuff that needs to be done every few years (sills, corrosion, suspension rebuild every 4-5years etc). At least it is not depreciating!

Ouch! A costly proposition. But worth it I suspect - do you have the work done by AM themselves, a specialist or do it yourself?Running costs. I would reccoment a trip down to Bramley showroom, just outside Guildford on the A281, the chap who runs the joint is very laid back and it has some wonderful "exibhits" on display.
I had one of the chaps round at my house, Chris, when he picked up my friend's car, such a nice guy, spent about an hour nattering to me about cars, they can get hold of some stunning motorsWhitney-Paine said:
I was told, but do not know if it is true that late injection cars (possibly only V8 and not Vantage) used two Ford Cosworth injection systems cobbled together somehow.
Perhaps someone knows.

Correct, there used to be a pair of systems from the testbed work stuck on a wooden board knocking around at Tickford.Perhaps someone knows.
