Remember that kid in the States that killed himself and his mates in that M5 when he was 17/18

Couldn't open the link, but good luck to him.
Whether he'll see his 18th, I don't know.
If it had been me given the keys to that car at 16/17 years old, I would have been a stain of testosterone and //M parts on a tunnel wall somewhere within hours.

Girl at my college got her M3 Cabrio for her 17th Birthday. She wrote it off within about a week. Daddy bought her a second one. She wrote that one off within 3 days. Daddy then bought her a little Fiesta 1.1...................

It's not as uncommon as you'd think I would say.

Reminds me of that horrible thread about the 16 or 17 year old kid whose dad bought him an E60 M5. He crashed it at high speed 5 up killing everyone in the car...

I just think its a waste even if you can afford it, your driving career should be a progression up the ranks of better cars, makes you appreciate them a lot more. Mate of mine got a Leon Cupra at 17 for his first car, he regrets not having a shed like everyone else.

The last time there was something like this going about 4 kids ended up dead when that m5 went off the end of the runway.

Having said that, all of us do stupid things from time to time.

It's a bit of a different world over there when it comes to cars - on any given day you could see a WRX, 5.0 stang, modified DSM turbo, Trans Am, MLs in my high school parking lot...

ETA there was one kid killed in an accident from my grade. He drove a 5th gen Celica

He doesn't even have a license yet? All very bizarre if you ask me. I think I'd like a word with his parents tbh.

Fair play to him. I hope he enjoys it. It's a rotten colour, though. Girly powder blue?

He's probably going to die messily, though.

A few weeks ago while flick channels I caught the end of MTV cribs just as the chap was getting to his garage.
His garage consisted of
White blinged up Hummer
White MURCIELAGO
White continental GT
White CLS 55 amg
When he got to the CLS 55 he said this was bought for his 18 year old daughter to LEARN to drive in.
His reason was Hummer too big, Lambo too fast, Bentley too expensive.
So the Merc is just the perfect compromise.

Quick skim through and it seems there are plenty of American kids on there with them?

Fair enough, he doesnt seem to be an idiot wanting to drift it to the shops, just someone with wealthy parents who could afford their kid an M3 for his brithday!

The other kid (lad with an M5) was an idiot and plenty of posts showing what would eventually happen to him...

Ruined for life unless daddy keeps bankrolling him with bigger and better cars I'm afraid.

I wonder if anyone on that M3 site has/will mention about the M5 incident to him?

Young lad, who is currently taking his driving lessons, has just been given his new 325 by his pop. I asked his dad why he bought him it - he just shrugged and said his son wanted one. The kid can't drive yet... God only knows what's going to happen.
Actually, if he does ram into someone he'll probably be OK, the other driver might not have the airbags etc... rich daddies eh?
