Basically i think i made a big mistake going for a black car. They look great when clean but getting them and keeping them clean seem impossible. The cars been washed twice now in the space of a couple of hours and its still not perfect. I'd take it to be valleted but the lanes where i live are similar to what Loeb and co drive through. So help me to not make the same mistake again.

Silver, without a shadow of a doubt.

Black is about the worst!

Silver IMHO. I've washed my silver Vectra three times since October, and it never looked particularly bad.

I'll second silver and again say that black is the worst

If gun-metal was in there I'd choose that. It hides all

I voted silver but only because grey wasn't an option. My MX-5 hides the dirt pretty well in grey.

Flat black (ie without a metalic in) is by far the hardest. You rarely see it on cars these days for that very reason. Looks stunning when detailed, with almost a mirror finish but it's nearly impossible to stop getting dirty and spider webbing.

My old GTV was Meteor Grey - it didn't look any different washed than when it was filthy. smile

I have been painting and detailing cars for over 17 years !

so should have alittle experiance of cleaning and maintance of cars !

With out no shadow of a doubt silver is the best for being forgiving when it comes to cleaning and not showing the dirt ,
Black and very dark greens and blues are the worst for showing dirt , and also the hardest to wash and look after !
But black when properly prepped and looked after looks stunning !

This is an reflection image on a black nissan truck after being prepped correctly which you will never get with silver

Definitely silver.

You don't need to clean at all, ever.

Blue or silver seem to hide the dirt, black cars look brown after a rain shower IME

I had a black 350Z (surprisingly) that was an utter nightmare to keep clean, even though it was garaged maybe 60% of the time.

Saying that, after a 2/3 hour cleaning session, it did look fantastic.

For about an hour smile

Now moved to a rather anonymous grey - much better smile

My previous car was a metallic silvery grey, even after a month or two of not washing it in the winter and a few blasts down muddy country lanes it'd still look clean from a short distance. Very forgiving when it came to scratches and swirl marks as well.
