Do you do lay up insurance?
Yes we do laid up policies.

Dan.
Well, I tried and even with the discount was more than twice what Footman James quoted.
Hi,

I'm sorry we were not competitive for you. We do always try our best for you.

I've got to say I've never had a good quote through Flux.

For instance I phoned up earlier in the week for a quote on a Westfield I've just bought, with the PH discount they wanted £350 and guaranteed me they're the kit car experts and they'd beat any other quote.

3 phone calls later and I've got quotes of £210, £185 and £175 from other brokers!

Out of interest, what criteria do you have on the discount as it says 'up to' 15%?

Noooo. I just sorted mine out with them at the beginning of February weeping

I can highly recommended them though, they have always been very helpful.
If you would like I can amend your file to show you are a member on here.
This way your discount could be included for your next Renewals.

Hello,

Sorry that you feel you have never had a competitive quote from us.
If you would like to email me your Detail's I can look at the quote and see if I can explain why we were not as competitive as the others?

The Discount is what the Insurer has agreed to give to members of Piston Head for the scheme that is suitable for you.

Regards,
Dan.

I have been insured with Flux in the past but I can't say it has ever been smooth experience.

My two biggest gripes are
- Renewal comes through and it has gone up massively. Get a quote from another which is much cheaper then phone Flux to cancel. "Oh, we can beat that" and Flux reduced the quote massively (almost 50%). Why not just send me the cheap price in the first place! (Obviously its in the hope that I just say OK but its a bit sly).

- Get a flyer through the door "We beat any quote...guaranteed". (Note no T&C's or reference to them on the flyer). Phone up on a fairly standard car (BMW 328i Sport) and "No sorry that doesn't apply" with no explanation. If it doesn't apply don't send me the fking flyer!

Apologies for the negativity but that is just what has happened with me. I have been insured with Flux a couple of times due to price but I have had to work really hard to beat the price down from the initial quote. I don't know what sort of margins you work on but some of the reductions I have been given are just silly.

I hope the underwriters read all the postings of any member claiming their discount. They might understand the insured risk a little better.

I got a quote from AF in Jan and had very good customer service and follow up -- my existing insurer was sufficiently close not to move my business. I have had excellent service from them (Richard Egger) so stayed.

Well I tried Adrian Flux today, quotation over email £780. Real quotation over phone £948. £600 excess and 5000 mile restricted policy. And that's with 15% off !

TVR Tuscan S, 07 plate, 35 year old, no accidents, claims, convictions, advanced driver. 10+ years no claims mirrored via my other policy.

Current insurer has quoted me £850, £500 excess and no mileage restrictions.

Apparently a secure underground car park with CCTV and keyfob entry isn't as safe as trying to squeeze my Tuscan into a garage.

Ho hum, I tried.

Hello,

Thank's for your feedback.
Our Insurers don't accept the underground car park being as secure as garaged.

Sorry we could not have been more help.

Got a decent quote of £550 + £450 excess from AF which i phoned and confirmed, now today i've come to take the policy out and its been spotted this is on a 3L Z4 and not a Z4M even though they've had the number plate and car description. doh! frown

Hi Dan,
I am “in the process” of renewing my car insurance with yourselves and have never used yourselves before as you have never been competitive enough. However, I am pleased to say on this occasion after some encouragement you are. The policy is due to start on the 25th of this month- 2008 audi TT 3.2 and I am 26 years old with 6 years NCB. I gave your colleague all the details and they gave me a good quote which i accepted, however when I read the documentation that came through on email it never had my points disclosed on it- for driving with tinted windows on my brothers car and speeding. I have just got off the phone to you guys to get these details added and been told that it would increase my premium which is fine and I accept that. I wanted the PH discount to be applied and they have told me that I already have a discount applied as I was a member of the MR2 OC which I never have been-never had an MR2. I told your colleague this who then went on to say that the discount (of 5%) would be applied regardless even if I wasn’t a member and therefore could not get the 15% PH discount! I have told them not to debit my account for the remaining premium as i wanted to get your help with this first.
Can you sort this out so I get the right discount applied? Also would my policy be due a reduction as I had a 350z before this- I have just read that is 1 of the factors taken into consideration when calculating a quote.
I have just sent you an email to pistonheads@adrianflux.co.uk to this effect.
Thanks
Usman

Blimey, that all sounds a bit dodgy... Is this discount scheme FSA approved and regulated?

Hello,

I apologise for this error.

Was it sorted out?

If you can email me your detail I can look into how this happened and stop it from happening again.

Dan.
