RE: PHers To Get Up To 15% Insurance Discount With Flux
Discussion
WOW well thought I would give AF a go as i've used them in the past for kit car insurance.
Car Gt86 14 plate standard car no mods. clean licence, i minor accident in 2013 50/50 total clam was under £380. and only accident in 20 years of driving. Wife 38yo. 5k a year. and no commuting
So a pretty much no risk or little risk. Wife was hit when parked but old insurance wanted 50/50 which I was not happy with but after 9 months of the insurance company doing fk all the wife went for 50/50
This was for my wife with me a named driver. Said about the 15% discount.
And the result. Double what 3 other company's wanted
Shame

Thanks for the feedback, I must say that sounds odd - Would you mind sending me a DM with your details so I can double check the premium?
Kind regards,

Just a quick rant. I got an online quote last night of £368. Emailed to say that if you phone them it could be cheaper plus the PH discount could be added. So I phoned up to try and buy it. Or so I thought. After having to rattle through all the exact same details you quoted me over £500...
What was the point of the email and the subsequent 20mins on an 0800? Apparently it was provisional but where did the quote come from if it was so far from what the actual price was .
Renewed my policy

Currently insured with Adrian Flux and didn't have a problem when initially sorting my policy last year. However, it's been nothing but a nightmare getting a new quote on a vehicle that's due to arrive next month. Getting passed through to a number of different people and being on hold constantly for 10mins + - end up just hanging up!
Seriously need to sort it out

Sorry to hear you were unhappy with the premium, the only reason the premium would change is if your details changed or the level of cover was increased for example.
If you can PM me your details I can certainly take a look into this for you?

Hi,Seriously need to sort it out
Congratulations on the new purchase, apologies that you have not had the best experience when trying to change vehicles.
If you can PM me your details I can look into this and arrange for our change of vehicle team to call you rather than you waiting on hold?
Kind regards

Adrian Flux can be VERY EXPENSIVE. A few months ago I had the misfortune to buy a VW Polo 1.9 SDi (Absolute junk DO NOT TOUCH WITH A BARGE-POLE) Before long it went into limp-home-mode and as an acquaintance with a VW Caddy ended up paying £3.5K to get the pesky thing out of limp-home-mode I did not want to go down that route. A friend had a spare Renault Espace which he lent me and as it was already taxd and insured I was able to drive it on my own insurance. Unfortunately the person who had loaned me the Espace was selling his his house (he had inherited a bungalow) and he had been buying Transit vans to use as both transport and storage. There was the need to transfer the Espace insurance onto a Transit so I then had to insure the Espace myself. My insurer NFU REFUSED to insure it because it didn't belong to me so I had to go to Flux. Initially I was charged £100 for the week but this was reduced to £70 when I complained. I bought the Espace in the end and was then able to get away from Flux but what a palaver! Incidentally I'm an OAP with a clean licence and loads of No Claims Bonus.
Sadly the Espace turned out to be another piece of junk. They get air in the fuel lines and starting gets harder and harder. An extra battery and jump leads will do for a while but in the end only a tow start will work. The fuel lines have lots of quick release bayonet couplings so this might be where the air gets in. It seems to be almost like a Real Time Clock that shuts everything down when the car gets old. It is a fact that large numbers of this model get scrapped because of the air problem and bad or no starting. Take care!

Could you explain to me how your young drivers policies work? I am looking into what I can afford to insure as my second car, if all goes to plan I should have 1 year NCB by time I buy it.
Apart from the obvious things like a large engine size and sport models, is there anything specific I should avoid? I have been looking at saloons like E36 3 series, Audi A4s, Alfa 156s etc. all 2.0 petrol or less. On price comparison websites the price between them all vary massively, so I was just wondering if there is something obvious that I am missing that is making some cars more to insure than others. E.G a 2000 Audi A4 1.6 is a grand more to insure than a 2001 Audi A4 FSI 2.0.
Should I avoid saloons in general and stick to hatchbacks?
I haven't tried AF yet because I don't want to ring up asking for quotes when I am just weighing up my options.
Thanks!

If you're looking at a second car and will have 1 year NCB at the time, then we can look at 'Mirroring' the NCB as you can't use it on two policies at once. This means you keep the NCB on the daily and we mirror the discount onto the second to help keep costs down.
Vehicle wise I would say unless you currently have a RWD, try and avoid one and stick to FWD as a lot of insurers won't insure young drivers on RWD vehicles without decent experience of them.
By all means if you want to DM me your details I can arrange for our quotes team to get in touch?
Kind regards

Is it a coincidence that I get an unsolicited call from someone trying to sell me car insurance 3 weeks after contacting Flux for a quote for a car that is rather high value. She mentioned Adrian flux and tried to make out that she was from them, but it all didn't ring true so I declined to give further details. She knew what car it was and that it was due soon. I don't bother with comparison sites. Only other company that knows the details is my current insurer.
Have my details been sold on? Why did I not get a call back with a quote from Flux in the first place, as it had to be referred???

We certainly don't sell any information on or work with third parties.
I would imagine it would have been our quotations team following up your enquiry - If you can DM me your details I would be happy to look into this?
Kind regards,

Got a few questions - sorry if they've been asked in this thread already.
1) In the event of a write off in the first year of ownership, do Flux comprehensive policies pay market value or new for old on new cars? Basically, would I need to take out GAP insurance for the first year of ownership of a brand new car? If you do cover new for old, is it for the first RK only?
2) Are there admin fees for changing details to your policy?
3) I note you provide discounts to qualified blue light drivers. Can these discounts be combined with the PH discount?
Thanks!

No problem!
1) Market value, however we do offer a benefit named 'Total Loss Protection' which may be worth considering.
2) It depends on the details you are changing, as a broker we charge up to a £25 administration fee for amendments however this depends on the underwriter. Some of our modified insurers don't charge administration fees for non performance enhancing modifications for example.
3) All policies are tailored to the needs of the individual, we can usually combine the club discount no problem.
By all means send me a DM with your contact details and I can arrange for our quotes team to call you for a chat.
Kind regards,
Jordan
