Not happy.

Just about to pay the premium, so confirming policy details on the phone, and I find out that the track day cover that I was assured IS included is in fact NOT included.

The premium is a little less than my renewal quote, but because I feel mucked around and disappointed I'll be sticking with my existing insurers. They don't offer track day cover either, but at least that fact was very clear from the start.
Sorry to hear this. All calls are recorded so I will have this listened to when I'm back in the office on Tuesday out of principal to find out what you were advised.

Kind regards,
Jordan

Thank you Jordan. I'm certain that I made it clear that track day cover was needed - I certainly did so with every other company I contacted.

Hi,

Sorry to hear that.

Unfortunately as I'm sure you will appreciate we are not always able to compete, but we do try.

If you wanted to PM me your details I would be happy to take a look at this to see if there is anything else we can do to reduce costs.

Kind regards,
Jordan

Thanks for the offer, but why can't you (and many of your competitors) just offer a good deal in the first place?????????
Sainsbury/Tesco sell their products for a price, why can't you do the same??
I worked in the insurance industry for over 30 years and frankly find the current motor insurance market is abysmal/appalling/sh*te!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In the 1980's when the Cornhill offered FREE NCD protection if you had over 6 years NCD you didn't get your premium loaded if you had a claim - that was the whole point of NCD protection FFS. Unlike now!!! And you could have up to 5 cars on 1 policy
Windscreen cover had NO EXCESS whether repaired or replaced (former unlikely then as they were mostly toughened rather than laminated back then)
Has the wheel been reinvented or are we just being taken to the cleaners...........???????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi,

As we are an intermediary I was offering to refer direct to the underwriters to see if they would offer anything more competitive, as we are not the insurer we do not control the pricing.

We cannot refer each and every case directly to an underwriter for obvious reasons - there simply isn't enough minutes in the day unfortunately.

I am certainly happy to look into this if you would like to DM me your details.

Kind regards,
Jordan

Gave them a ring today, wasn't too impressed with the first person I spoke to. Just asked a load of questions and then was put on hold. Would have been nice to have been informed that I would be transferred. Next women I spoke to was very helpful and polite. Sadly the quote was £75 more expensive (with a lower excess though) than my best quote. If it was a little bit closer in price I properly would have taken a policy out as she was pleasant on the phone.

Hi Ki3r,

Thanks for the message.

If you would be so kind as to drop me a quick PM with your full name, post code and date of birth. I can then check this out for you to first of all check what happened with the call (You should only speak to our reception who then transfer you to the correct department)I can also take a look at the quote itself to see if anything else can be done with the price.

Kind regards,
Jordan

Thanks for the offer, but I tend to only give companies one chance, hate insurance time at the best of times.

First women asked what I was calling about, then asked some other questions, if im honest I can't remember what, the women after asked pretty much the same questions but didn't sound as sharp and felt that she didn't mind speaking to me.

Do you offer interest free monthly instalments as well?

I thought I'd share my experience of flux insurance.
I put in my details in to the online details box, the website then says we will be in touch. Fair enough.
They did get in touch after a while, where I went through the same questions with a guy on the phone, who then uses a really 'clever' hook of 'it looks like we should be able to beat your best price, I'll put you through to xx insurers now to confirm your quote'.
The call connects and it sounds like the girl I'm speaking to is stood in a hurricane, obviously on a headset but she's barely audible, I ask if this can be improved which it is for about 30 seconds, only to go back to hissing and mumbled words so I hang up.
Flux guy rings me back, I explain what happens, so he puts me on to another insurer.
So I go through to the next lot, who go through the same lot of questions again, putting right the mistakes (or intentional incorrect data entry by the guy on the phone to get a better price to try and earn his bread?) only to find the quote is 300 odd quid dearer than others I've got online already.

All in all it just seemed utterly pointless, I had the distinct feeling I could have played this game all day and got nowhere.
I can do the same thing myself online, in half the time. utter crap based on my experience.

Hi Shake n Bake,

Firstly thanks for taking the time to post some feedback, it is appreciated.

I have to be honest in saying that the experience you describe is completely out of the ordinary and is not our standard procedure, so I therefore am keen to look into what has happened on this occasion.

Would it be at all possible for you to drop me a quick PM with your full name, post code and vehicle registration? I can then trace the recorded call to investigate what has happened here.

Kind regards
Jordan

I tried calling flux once but they were so rude on the phone I really wasn't impressed. Then after going through all the questions they said they couldn't get close to other deals due to my age and car choice (at the time 23 years old, BMW 318ci). Well why didn't you just tell me that at the start and save me the time and effort?

And to the above scenario where Flux quote £75 more expensive than others. How can you change the price based on what other companies offered? Surely when we call you and get a price, that IS the price. Not the price you think you can get away with offering and only drop it if the customer doesn't bite first time. This is why no-one trust the insurance industry. There is no transparency.
Can you imagine going to the supermarket and everyone being offered items at a different price and you have to haggle because the other supermarket said they will sell it 50p cheaper? Ridiculous.

Just to buck the trend a little - I've been with Sky Insurance for a few years now.

Last year they quoted and were a little more expensive than what I could find online however in their renewal letter they promised to beat any other quote and give me £20 - i gave them a call and they did.

This year i've had my renewal quote come through and again they had the lowest price match guarantee thing in the letter, so I started to shop around - was quite pleased to find that I couldn't find anything cheaper so didn't have to phone up and haggle.

Very impressed with Sky.

Hi,

Thanks for the feedback.

Apologies that you found a member of our staff rude, I can assure you this is not a regular occurrence. The large majority of us are car enthusiasts ourselves and love nothing more than a good chat about the vehicle in hand!

If it were as simple as knowing at the beginning of the call if we were able to compete, we wouldn't waste your time going through a whole quotation. As we are an insurance broker, we work on behalf of over 40 different underwriters. This means it is a case of taking the details and checking which insurers and which schemes will offer a quotation. We are not an every day insurer that enters details into a computer and hits quote - We are a specialist broker who goes that bit further and looks at each risk on an individual basis.

We also have the benefit of having in house underwriting representatives for a number of insurers, meaning we can refer individual risks directly in an attempt to get the most competitive price available.

One major point of being an insurance broker is that we are fighting your corner to get the best possible price, so if you have a target price in mind, we can refer to these insurers and try to better it as best we can.

Of course this is not to say we can compete on every occasion, if we could - there would be no other insurers out there!

I hope that gives a clearer picture, if I can ever assist then by all means drop me a quick DM and I'll happily try and help.

Kind regards,
Jordan

Hi Jordan,

I have a year 2000 BMW M5 - could this be insured on a classic policy? Probably do <2500 miles pa and the car is garaged.

Thanks

Hi Steve,

We can certainly do something for you with an annual mileage that low. If not a classic policy, a limited mileage policy which will return a very similar premium.

If you wanted to drop me a quick PM with your contact details I can arrange for us to get in touch.

Regards,
Jordan

Hi Jordan,

no time to ring from work, so thought I'd ask here:

my bike (insured through bikesure) was written off a couple of months ago and my bike policy ends 17th May. Obviously, I'm not renewing as no bike; would AF be able to mirror the 6 years NCD on that policy onto a car policy instead?

Cheers
Jon

Hi Jon,

Thanks for the message.

Unfortunately motorcycle NCD can only be used on a motorcycle policy, and vice versa regarding car NCD on a motorcycle policy. This is pretty much universal across the board with insurers I'm afraid.

Jordan
