I guess this might be the best place to ask.
I have just bought myself a Porsche. I have no allocated parking at my home, instead we have a permit parking on the road. My last car got all sorts of scratches and bumps though 'life on the street' so I have rented a garage about 300 metres from my house for my new P&J to live in.
Looking through the comparison sites I am getting about £550pa parking in the garage and about £300pa parked on the street.
I'm assuming the premium hike is because I have been required to tick the option 'kept overnight away from my house'. This makes no sense to me. I occasionally have to park further away from my house than the garage is due to lack of parking places! I'm sure when you tick 'garage' on a policy there is an assumption that the garage is on your property and I don't want to put myself at risk of have a potential claim refused if I was a little creative with the facts.
I will speak to actual people rather than computers tomorrow but perhaps someone can help/offer advice here too?
Thanks

Congratulations on the new purchase!
Whilst I can't speak on behalf of other insurers, we would just need the post code of where the vehicle is kept - Obviously depending on if there is a difference in area ratings may make a difference to the premium but I'd like to think this will be negligible. If the garage falls under the same post code, it should be fine.
If you want to PM me your contact details we'll get in touch to see what we can do.
Kind regards,
Jordan
Hi,
PM sent, waiting for reply.
I have checked the postcode risk rating, my code is BS6 and the car will be in BS8. BS6 = D*, BS8 = C, so the car will be in a better area risk wise. I would be keen to talk with someone.
Thanks,
Chris

Hi,
Are you the same company as "fluxdirect"
Just wondering as they came up cheapest for a quote and wondered if the 15% discount applies.
Ignore this if they aren't a part of you, just similar name haha

FluxDirect is our web-based sister company, their office is based partially down in Bishop Stortford whereas we're in King's Lynn.
If you can PM the reference I will see if we can offer any club discount for you

How are you with multi car policies?
I'm going to be getting a daily driver to sit alongside my sports car, which has been insured with you for the last few years. I only have no claims bonus on one car, will that mean I have to pay top whack on both cars? My mileage will stay roughly the same, but spread out over two cars. Also, is it better to add the second car when renewing my existing policy, or can a car be added later on?

We can certainly mirror no claims bonus onto a second vehicle for you, this is no problem. This means you keep the bonus on one vehicle but we offer a discount for the fact it is being used elsewhere - it will not be rated on 0.
You are welcome to add it mid term, it makes no odds to us - it just means they will both expire on different dates as it is twelve months cover from the date you take each policy out.
If you want to email me at socialmedia@adrianflux.co.uk as I don't seem to get any DM's at the moment, I will then be able to arrange a call back from our quotes team to see what we can do.
Kind regards,
Jordan
Thanks, I'll give your team a call when I've decided on a car.
Would the second car start to accrue its own no claims discount, whilst the discount from my other car is mirrored to it?
Also, is this mirroring available with all your policies, or if I wait until after my renewal date do I need to make sure my sports car goes on a certain policy?

It is risk dependant but unless it's one of our real classic style policies, it should accrue it's own no claims discount (Only a limited number of our classic schemes are not NCB rated, our advisors will be able to tell you once they have the details)
Mirroring NCB is available with almost all of our policies, we normally have something to fit the particular needs of the individual.

Hmmm, a 15% discount would still leave you over 130% more than other quotes I got (I'm 47, 6yrs nc, drive a mildly modifed Clio 182, living and working in London: £2400?!)
Hi,Thanks for trying us! Unfortunately there are some occasions where we just can't compete I'm afraid.
If you can drop me a DM with your details I'd be more than happy to look into why we were so far out this time round.
Kind regards
Jordan

Got my renewal quote through, similar to last year even though I've accrued a years NCB on this car from 0 years last year. Tried calling but they wouldn't budge on the price at all which I found rare for an insurer! Any tips?
Look elsewhere to see costs, then get a quote as a new customer.Shaoxter said:

Hi,As a broker it's probably a case that this is the lowest premium we can find from our insurers. If you find a cheaper price elsewhere we can always refer to the underwriter directly to see if they are willing to compete to win the business again.
HTH
