Sorry Blukoo just noticed on your profile you've got an imprezza, surely you prefer the other cars in your stable?
The focus in my garage is a WR1. One of only 500 made, and its totally standard. I'd be very surprised to see a chav in something like that Its not actually even my car. Its my brothers. He's a professional detailer, so whenever its out the garage its totally immaculate with a beautiful shine. So it gets a lot of looks, but normally looks of admiration.
I realise that the impreza has a lot of chav appeal, but I think only certain models and normally ones with 5 inch slash cut exahusts and flamer kits.
Anyway, you never been told not to judge a book by its cover?
Just out of curiosity, whats your current car?

But on the other hand don't you just want a bit of fight from the front, a bit of "animal" ?
People said we were getting soft when you could just plonk your foot down in a Porsche Turbo, is the new Focus RS going the same way as well ? I quite like my front wheel cars to feel a bit naughty and needing to be kept under control rather than it just guiding me home at Mach 5.
Still a great car it seems though. I'm sure the comment "it has a bigger turbo" has been missed by most in all this revoknuckle stuff but maybe the aftermarket guys can make the car really come alive with 400bhp through the front wheels.
Golly.
Regards
Andy

At present I have a very very boring 320i convertible, only bought it really because I thought the kids would enjoy the roof down and it would be reasonably economical for work. I have tosay I'm getting a bit fed up with having to take it back to the bmw dealer due to the engine misfire, back for the 5th time next week. Seems like it firing on 2 cylinders some of the time. Before that I had a 911 c4s, which was fun but I tended to leave it in the garage and drive a A3 again due to 35,000 miles a year with work. Before the Porsche I had a 2002 m3, and before that an imprezza, I have to say that the imprezza was the car I enjoyed thrashing the most it just kept going and going, but the image I hated I felt like a hooligan. I realise that the impreza has a lot of chav appeal, but I think only certain models and normally ones with 5 inch slash cut exahusts and flamer kits.

Finally got fed up with the BM after 4 months of being called a hairdresser so went for the RS, after the Autocar write up.

Sounds like the RS is just what the doctor ordered.
Yes I hope so. Won't put my foot down until at least 10 yards from the Ford garage when I finally collect it. My son (aged 6) is looking forward to it, my daughter (aged 8) isn't, neither is my wife, but I'll probably keep it 6 months and get somrthing else. Already thinking what to get next. M5? Vantage? The good thing about the recession is that the value of 2nd hand cars is virtually zero. whipround said:

No torque steer whatsoever, no need for 4wd as it feels as sure footed as any 4wd I have ever driven.
If you saw the 4WD mule accelerate out of Werseifen on opposite lock, you might feel differently.dave71 said:

You do realise some people buying the RS will be actually using it as an only car, don't you?
What a world it would be if we could all go out and afford to buy specialist sportscars when we wanted.
My dad has finally given the dealer details of which colour/spec he wants, but only on the basis the dealer doesn't actully need to sell it to him, the day comes when it's ready.
The delivery date is sometime in September/October, so he still has the chance to change his mind on if he wants the car, right up to the date of delivery. Quite a nice choice.
25k gets you a lot of car when looking through PH classifieds though. Only issue with me is a warranty for the likes of a 3-4 year old M5. Anyone got an idea what BMW would charge for something like that? He may have considered a Porsche if he could have had a proper warranty to cover it...
