Audi are on a resurgence at the moment sales and image wise and good on them.
I just can't help thinking that underneath all that glitz and fetish-like styling, they are mostly an ordinary product. Bit like an i-pod really. IMHO
R8 and RS4 aside
Yeah in my opinion I think BMW are a bit too common these days I think audi seems a bit more special. I just can't help thinking that underneath all that glitz and fetish-like styling, they are mostly an ordinary product. Bit like an i-pod really. IMHO

Not saying that BMW's arent nice cars at all but its nice to have something a bit different.
Also, releasing the Audi TT TDi illustrates that fact.
Audi do make good cars, but soon they will be as common as anything else.

I see a ratio of about 10 bm's to about 2 audi's everyday. Maybe thats just where i live/work.

Fact is, Audi as abrand is on the rise and will be as common in the coming years.
Didn't they supposedly stop the RS4 production for the RS6 as they only wanted one RS model at a time? Now everything seems to have an RS version coming out - TT RS, RS5 and now RS3.
There will be people that buy the RS3 just as there are people that buy the X6 and Kia's in metallic pink!

£35k could get you a 355 or a 911 Turbo....
And they come with a 3 year warranty do they?Buying a 8-10 year old sportscar/supercar for the same price as a new car are like chalk and cheese.
The RS3 will be brand new, never thrashed, tracked, crashed etc. It won't need new tyres for the the first year. Won't need new pads/discs for a couple years. And if something goes wrong it's covered by the warranty.
Running costs on a 355 will be a lot more than an RS3.
Audi have always said they'd never build an RS3. If they did I'd buy one. Always like fast Audi's. Old man has had S4's, RS4's and currently drives an R8.
Think Audi will do slightly more to the S3 than shove a new engine under the bonnet. Wider track, lower ride height, Haldex system tweeked. £35k should come with Bucket seats, flat bottomed steering wheel.
Extra's will be Satnav (don't need) and other rubbish extras like parking sensors.
All I'd need is upgraded stereo with Bose speakers.
Will I buy one? Oh yes. Will have to have the 340bhp though.
This much-lauded five-pot engine, which has been been marketed as Gallardo derived,is actually a turbocharged US Jetta powerplant. It's no secret, but people continue to buy into the ''one bank of the high-revving V10'' crap. What is the connection with the Lambo engine?

I sincerley hope they make the changes you describe, otherwise something lesser will run rings round it...
Depreciation might be biblical as well.

Unfortunately for you its true, I have a VW tech document on the Jetta engine stating exactly that its derived from the V10... I do agree that logically speaking you can't compare second hand with new, but personally speaking car buying decisions are not purely logical. When most people shop for a 'new' car they have a set maximum budget and will consider both new and second hand and select the car that offers them the best value proposition over all. I agree a 355 would be silly as it still costs the same as a new Ferrari to run, but is the comparison between an RS3 and an ex-demo M3 really a silly comparison? I don't and I know I would sacrifice 6 months of warranty for a bespoke V8 coupe against a blown 5 pot hatchback even if M3's are all driven by a certain sort of person (joking).
Here you go... http://www.dubspeedracing.com/misc/891403.pdf
Page 32, its only the head thats V10 derived.
