Fantastic car!

Shouldn't even be classed as a shed, it's too good!
'Shed of the Week' doesn't actually mean it's a shed, it's a name that has stuck over time for the feature. We actually look for the best car we can find for sale under £1000 smile
So the best car you could find the other week was a Rover 75? hehe

We were feeling ill that day, must have been something in the water.

High I am guessing?
More medium than high I would have thought
- 3500cc inline six at an Indy isn't going to be
that serious.

Get pattern parts instead of OEM to save bills, too.

I'd be more worried about hitting the loud
pedal a lot and the consequent need to spend a
lot at the pumps.

Under 20 mpg should be possible with some enthusiasm ;->

Cracking shed / barge.

Yes please.

A proper shed not like some of the garbage we've seen recently (R-O-V-E-R)

No messing around with £999 price tags here - he wants £987 for his motor.
Out of the entire article that was the bit that got me most. I mean, where on earth did that obscure figure come from?
So the psychology behind it obviously worked then - good luck to the seller - great underrated cars !

Didn't this engine give the M1 its 286 brake?

Nice one.

Nice but it looks like the tyres'll want changing soon.
You can easily pick up a set of nice BBS alloys with tyres on eBay for about £150.

To be fair, they will suit the car better, anyway.

Takes me back to my E28 528i. Cost me £180, and that was a proper shed...

An excellent SOTW - definitely the best this year so far....

It's a good price, as these now tend to fetch upwards of £1500.

I love these cars - they look so menacing when they creep up behind you!

A friend of mine has a Diamond Black E28 M5.

I very nearly bought an M535i a few years back: it was Apline White, black leathers and had the better dog-leg 'box. It's just the body work was riddled with rust!

A very raw machine, indeed.

Although the E34s are more refined, in these you feel the responses alot more.

Good work SOTW !!

Best SOW for 2009. Old work colleague of mine had one years ago - absolutely belting car - although preferable with the manual. If it wasn't the other end of the country from me, I'd probably be on the phone.....

My 520i cost me less than that, admitadly it only had a few days MOT left and was so rotten underneath you could poke the carpet up from under the car, but I won't forget my first RWD car:

No, that was the M5 with M88 engine, although this M30 engine, (and all the various M5 I6 engines for that matter), share a common ancestry back to the 3.0CSL and earlier racing models with the big six.

Nice motor - when BMW's were proper BMWs. Not keen on those "council estate" wheels though - would prefer standard to give a more retro look

What happened to PH shed trading?
Due to gerneral PH laziness the £800 kitty has sat in a top drawer for way too long....in fact i'm sure a bit has been 'borrowed' for sandwiches and coffee too.

We'llget a new shed bought very, very soon.
Marketing budget cut and general belt tightening?

No, it really is down to being lazy. The 'profit' sits in the desk waiting to be spent, it's been bumped up the agenda following this thread so we'll have a look this afternoon.

Not really. By modern standards these are really quite simple cars. Fuel consumption is probably your biggest problem.

Had a manual version a few years back, and can genuinely say I have rarely had more fun in any car. They are great.

I was ready to jump in the car before I saw it was an auto, still looks an absolute bargain though. The price seems a strange number to pick, but this has to be the best find yet. What happened to PH shed trading?
Agree!,......I'd totally forgot about that 'shed trading' feature though,...somebody needs to stop coffee and get type,...that was a cracking little topic..smile

Has one of those CSi BMW's been featured on this SOTW?,...or do they go for more than a grand??
