As a RWD fan I was that curious abut the R26.R - have always liked hot Renaults.

They are becoming cheaper now. Found one with 300 miles on the clock for £19k. If it is crap I will let you know.

You could get them for not much more than that new!

Brilliant - looked at 2 cars. Bought the 2nd one.
It is not that quick in a straight line. Runs out of puff in 4th gear upwards. The harness is a bit of a hassle and the seats are awkward to climb in to and I sometimes miss a stereo. Oh and we have yet to crack 20mpg!

But boy is it fun to drive! Just fab. It seems to have limitless amounts of grip. The steering feedback is fantastic. Every drive is a fun filled occasion.

Yep true. But there are not any new ones available now. And like you say for not much more! Anyway I am happy with the purchase.

This one also came with all the important bits covered in 3M film. And that is worth £400 to me.

Have you driven an R26 before R1_Nur? If so how does it compare with the R?

Get a stage 2 remap R1nur. I went exige s to megane and it felt a little flat as you say.

After re map it now has the same power to weight as the 220 brake exige. More torque though. Over 100 the megane is quicker.

Did Renault ever finish selling them all? I went to a couple of dealers in the summer and they had two or three lying about.

I really admire Renault for the extreme cars they produce (the V6 Clio springs to mind too), and this is apparently an amazing handling car. But I don't understand the purpose of a car without the RWD appeal of a two-seat sports car or the practicality of a hatch.

It makes a more practical 'Ring' car then an Exige.
