The interior seemed very nice in the examples I sat in at the Motorshow.
Those at the motorshow were terrible! They had scuffs everywhere and even some bits of trim hanging off. The materials and design are very similar to a slightly upscaled Astra interior. There's nothing wrong with that, I liked my Astra when I had it, but moving to the interior of the Audi was a huge step forward.
I've never been impressed by lower end (A3/A4) Audi interiors.
I can't really say I'm impressed by any interior in mass produced cars, they all serve a purpose and most do it quite well, it's mainly a matter of personal preference and I just prefer the relatively simple design of the Audis (BMW do take this a bit too far for me) rather than trying to add unnecessary arrays of buttons in some artistic layout.

Having been happy with my Astra (2004 SRi) I was genuinely shocked with the quality of the Insignias at the motorshow. Even the friends that were with me commented on how it seemed to be built out of much more flimsy materials than the Astra, and the fact that dash trims were literally hanging off did nothing to make any of us want to buy one. Hopefully they weren't representative of how most cars will be put together but after seeing them in that state I really wouldn't consider one at all.

That's bloody ugly.

£30k? Have they forgotten they are competing with Evos here?
If you're comparing them purely on price and power, you're missing the point (besides, I happen to think it's pretty good value compared to the competition).

The Evo is a LOT smaller than the Insignia. The Insignia is more about combining comfort and power than just pure speed alone, which is the Evo's forté. - If they were hot hatches, the Evo would be the akin to the Megane R26, whereas the Insignia would be comparable with the Golf GTI.

Vauxhall themselves even state the competition in their press release - It's aimed at the Audi/BMW crowd...and considering the review of the Insignia VXR in this months' Evo (magazine), they haven't got anything to be ashamed about.

It's new Insignia. And it's all over now.
