...When On foot?!?

There's something about it that makes you think that the "Pedestrianal Numpties" who walk too slowly on footpaths don't approve of such manouveres!!!

There's not so much damage when you rear-end them

(no sniggering at the back)

I tend to walk much faster than other poeple. I must admit that sometimes I pretend to myself that im a car, even making all the noises (to myself!) and leaning around corners and when braking/accelerating. On a busy pavement overtaking is great pull up behind them in "top", change down to 3rd wait for a gap then lean back and accelerate past them changing into 4th as I go. Is this the behavior of a mad man?

No, Mr Bean, it is quite normal.

Strategic walking is perfectly normal as far as I'm concerned but leaning and making car noises (even in your head) is a cause for concern, ocean1!

I feel guilty sometimes. Its only because of numpties who give you a hard time for overtaking anyway.

So ...... Sod 'em!

I never feel guilty overtaking. Especially when making a nice pass on the inside line...

I even simulate getting the tail out and subsequent fishtailing when I take a corner too quickly. Oh dear off to the shrink then.

I'd love to follow you round town, ocean1. Do you shorten your stride when you see Police on foot?

I just rotate on the spot for a bit (doing donuts), then when they chase me I take crazy walking risks until eventually I understeer into a lamppost.

I used to work just off of Oxford Street in Central London. Everyday when I went for lunch I'd have to wade through crowds of dawdling nupty tourists. After a few years in the job I became the master of numpty overtaking!

Anyway on another note, I do remember reading plans in The Standard, from a couple of years ago, where somebody want to put a slow and fast lane on the Oxford Street pavements, but it was scrapped

Have you noticed that the slowest pedestrians also take up the most space? Particularly on a narrow pavement where they walk down the middle.

I'd hate to see what you're like in the supermarket, in charge of a trolley!

I have to admit to a bit of pavement rage. I had a shouting fit in the middle of a shopping arcade yesterday. I had my walkman on too, so i shouted even louder than i meant to.
Walking slowly, not paying attention, not looking before pulling out of shops.....

The old Hungerford footbridge by Charing Cross station in London was perfect for pedestrian overtaking.

It was just like an NSL country lane, only wide enough for 2 persons across and to overtake you had to line up behind someone, wait for opposing pedestrian traffic to pass and then quickly downshift, turn out and cut back in before a head-on collision!

My colleague and I used to load up our laptops bags with extra weight on our shoulders just to use them to "nudge" people out of the way!

I regularly try and touch the apex on corners of pavements
