So what car have you been obsessing about today??
Discussion
Going back to the NSX, which would you rather have, a Ferrari 348TS or an NSX? I had the former and was lucky enough to try the demonstrator NSX at Donington back in 1992. On the first lap I was several seconds quicker than in the Ferrari, the gearchange like a knife through butter compared to the notchy 348; the handling all of a piece and not edgy, the whole car oozing integrity instead of a badly thought out and badly designed car. Servicing cost in the day were 300 compared to 1,500 for the 348. I could go on, but I think you'll get the drift.
I've never owned one, have often thought about it and regret never having done so, and I doubt I ever will now. But don't knock them; they are and were without doubt far superior than any similarly priced up-market car with a snob badge. It was in fact only the badge that put people off I think.

BIL is 20, just passed. And that, sharing with his father. (one uses it monday-friday for work, other uses it weekends for work/social life) is 800 a year

Hopefully be moving back to Oz in the next year or two, so keep browsing Oz classifieds.

i do worry that so many people lust after white goods
surely obsession is saved for the extreme/unique/beautiful ?
I want an RS4, I obsess over a Zonda.
surely it comes down to "Income" and "disposable cash" ?surely obsession is saved for the extreme/unique/beautiful ?

someone looking at first cars, who's current steed is a BUS, can obsess about something costing 400 that will bring freedom and cost 2k a year insurance.
A company director for Red Bull, with a fleet of high end models from BMW/Audi/Merc is probably going to be lusting after considerably dearer stuff

It depends on a certain person.
Some people may worry about people that spend loads of money buying a Golf R/Polo GTI when they could have the (insert car name) or the same car/platform from a cheaper brand.
I am not saying you ate wrong buying them, but some variety is good. :

Stupid question - someone has made that from 2 cars themselves, haven't they?
Didn't think they made an E46 M3 saloon...
Good point. I didn't see that on small iPhone screen.Didn't think they made an E46 M3 saloon...
Still nice nonetheless.
There is dream like obsession which is reserved for F50s, Zondas, McL F1 and SR-71 Blackbird ownership.
Then there is real world, possibly obtainable with some sacrifices which, for some will be in the 3k bracket, others 20k and so on.
Both can gnaw away at you just as hard.
I would say the just out of reach obsession is the most pervasive though.
