Hi John, I'm good thanks, how's the MR2? Hope you're well. Still planning to get a 111R?
Car is going well at the moment, needed a bit of work last year but seems to be running well now. Take a look at my profile and you can see what I've done.
Really like the Evora, if things go well it would definetly be on my radar in a few years time when I'm hopefully earning a bit more money.
Just read the new news article "The company is also likely to launch a motorsport version" that sounds very interesting! More power and less weight good combination.
Wow!!! Wasn't expecting that kind of work! Did the head gasket go? Shame if it did cos there were no signs of that when I had it. Must have happened pretty damn quickly.....Car is going well at the moment, needed a bit of work last year but seems to be running well now. Take a look at my profile and you can see what I've done.

Larini was a good idea though. Heard a few with them on. Nice a fruity!
The 111R is on the backburner at the moment as future in the balance regarding kids, job etc etc. So not sure when, but I WILL have one! I have promised myself and I always stick to my promises! ;-)
As for the Motorsport one, will definitely be a bit of a track day demon I reckon. Even the standard one would do a decent job of being a track day underdog, although that kind of car is likely to get less work on a track than say a slightly fettled Elise...
Got yours to a track yet? You should. Not done it in yours, but done it in others and they are fantastic....and with a new HG and the S2 suspension, should be a bit of a weapon too!
Enjoy!!!
Please stop that Nissan GT-R st here. I cant remember, seeing an uglyer car than the Nissan! If you cant see the diffence between a Nissan or a BMW M3, please, keep in mind, that Nissan and BMW are massproduced cars, compare to an Evora, which is made by hand, by workers loving there job and doing it with passion.
I guess, the Evora is a great Car and Lotus deserves a big WELL DONE, ist not easy these days, to come up with a new car, especially for a small company like Lotus.
I'am sure, a black Evora, with nice wheels will look just great. I will go for one

£50k though puts it in price with 4 seaters like the new M3. i know they aren't exactly the same market (but it still goes like stink, easily fits 4 people, and has a huge boot); it would be interesting to see if this were much quicker round a track than an M3.... because at the same price as one, with much less rear seat room and a smaller boot....it will have to be a fair bit quicker!!
still - i do like that lotus, lovely colour too
It does seem pricey compared to a Cayman S. The Porsche is cheaper, more powerful, better build quality, better engine and its only 33kg heavier. I think the only reason you would pick the Lotus is if you really needed the +2 seats. Or if you prefered the styling (which i do!). still - i do like that lotus, lovely colour too
A lot of the people in the market for a second hand one around £25k I'm sure, not very many willing to spend £50k at the moment though I'd imagine. Be interesting to see how the price gap stays second hand, if you can live with an Elise as a daily driver the Evora might be a bit soft, as a fun weekend car the Elise is probably the better toy.
My tupenneth: The styling is very characterful, every ten degrees it looks different, not many cars do that. 1380kg is disappointing but perhaps unavoidable. The interior looks good.
If you are making a rational car purchase, buy a TDI estate, if you are seeking a characterful car, I reckon this hits the spot. Decent article too.

Well done to Lotus for building a pointless car that every other manufacturer in the world has decided is not worth building - a mid engined 4 seater.
Well I hardly ever see any rear engine 2+2s from a certain German manufacturer......Katanga said:

... or if you are a Brit.CaymanS heavier only with DSG-style gearbox.
Can't understand why most reviews state that the Evora is quicker than CaymanS. The engine of the Porker has definitely more character than the Toyota lump. When people see something that's not really pretty they use to say "it's nice and has bags of character". I love the Elise but when deciding between CaymanS and Evora I know where my money will go.

1380kg for something with all the toys is pretty impressive. And to a certain extent, weight gives solidity and helps get the NVH down to the level that people in the market for a Cayman/Z4/etc expect. If you are making a rational car purchase, buy a TDI estate, if you are seeking a characterful car, I reckon this hits the spot. Decent article too.
I've always admired Lotus and the philosophy of doing things on a shoe string budget and pulling it off in the driver stakes but have never felt brave enough to bite the bullet (hence the Cayman on my driveway) but...if this car lives up to its promise and doesnt fall apart within a few months I could really be tempted by it, smashing effort you lads from turnip land!

Nice looking car although I am not sure about that back end. Nice colour too but the gloomy miserable shoot doesnt help it at all. 276 bhp from a 3.5 litre V6 is a bit weedy, should have been 350'ish bhp without supercharger, maybe that will be the GT version. At £50,000 I think their streaching their luck to far it just isnt worth that kind of money, £35,000 maybe.
I to think £50k is a tad on the expensive side. Sure it looks good and will go fairly well. But with under 300hp it won't be that quick. There are a lot of cars you can get for this kind of money.
And in many ways you'd be better off buying an Elise and a little hatch for less money than buying the Evora!

Its relatively low power because the FE model code means its a more economical engine, rather than a high performance engine. Toyotas high performance engines always have the ending code GE (for normally aspirated) or GTE (for turbocharged high performance).BSC said:
