RE: Clio Renaultsport 200

I disagree that it would not have cost any extra money to be more creative. I am sure that the 200 interior and the 197 interior and therefore the gen 3 and gen 4 Clio interior tooling is probably exactly the same.
The 200 is still a Gen3 Clio, it is a mid life facelift and not an all new car. Clio 4 is a few years away yet !Jesus. I go away for a day and there's 2 pages about the interior! Personally, I think the Clio III's dashboard is very well laid out and (having owned one) good quality too. It clearly isn't an intricate piece of design like the MINIs but then that wouldn't have suited the Clio II as whole. I reckon it's a very simple, intuitive and elegant design. I concede that, as with the Megane II, it does look a lot better with the climate control instead of the round air controls.
Anyway.... surely enough on the inside now? If the initial reviews are to be believed arguably the best performance hot hatch now performs even better and that, surely (given we are on PH and not What Car?) should be the most important point? Well done Renaultsport for putting so much effort into a £15k car.

It's a shame imo they've made the car look worse than it was 197's were really starting to grow on me! I have a 182FF myself, and the interior's pretty boring but at least I have my leather Recaros... wonder if they'll offer leather ones in the 200FF?
It's a cool car but I'd personally never get a Cup. The interior's more important to me than slightly better handling etc. All I do with my car is drive to work and back! Never take a corner fast lol so handling means sod all to me but it's nice that Renault provide both options for people. Personally, if I were to get a brand new hot hatch, I'd still pluck for the Corsa VXR

Where as the Cup is perfect for me, I love to experience the handling of a machine, and as long as the interior is functional then I am a happy chappy. That's why I got a Williams, its all about how it goes
Each to their own as they say.
Must say I'd love a Williams! Even come across my mind to sell my 182FF and get one in the near future... but those seats in the Williams are truely horrible Each to their own as they say.
Just like the R5 GTT... one of my favourite cars of all time and I will own one one day, the dash is gash lol but wouldn't put me off on such a classic.

Talking about the interior they have aped the Ferrari yellow rev counter but not the materials for the surfaces. If the steering wheel was pinched from the RS4, Golf GTI it would stand a better chance on looking sporty.
I bet it's a cracker to drive though.
One last thing. 1200kg. The Mclaren F1 weighed less than that and it has a 6 litre V12 in it. Hmm..
Rather than a Cup chassis they need to lose weight, then people wouldn't notice the lack of torque so much. Not many people get this car for trackdays I'd guess so the cup chassis would be better off replaced by less weight which will be applicable all the time.

I believe that's where Renault are going with all their cars, just obviously very difficult with all the safety regs these days. There is virtually nothing in a Cup spec car that doesn't need to be there, so I think we can assume it's as light as it's possible to be without going to the expense of lighter materials. It doesn't have any Focus RS-like fake vents or anything unnecessary, so it's pretty pure in that respect.Rather than a Cup chassis they need to lose weight, then people wouldn't notice the lack of torque so much. The new Megane is lighter than its predecessor, which is incredibly uncommon, so I think things are heading in the right direction.

so they took a decent looking car and beat it with the ugly stick and gave it 3bhp? not quite sure i see the point, the 197 wasnt that old anyway and surely they didnt have to make it look so shocking.
lovely seats though.
197 was 3 years old - hence the mid-life facelift. lovely seats though.
Also, if you read the reviews / info - it is a bit more than a new front and 3 bhp !
Possibly one of the best write up articles I have read on PH. Superb.
Carwise, the wizzy seats still don't hide the millions of miles that Renault still have to make up on the interiors of Clios still, but I think the car itself looks quite snazzy, albeit I am not mad on that spearmint green paint job.
