Depends if you are interested in residual values. I had a Supercharged Mini Cooper S and whilst it looked good was not sold on it's apparant gokart handling. Did not exist with run flat tyres.I'm about to order a Renault sport 200

The Clio will be the better handling car, but that interior apart from the 'Recaro' seats are horrid. And don't get a green one either.
Prefer the look of the preface lift too.
I would be throwing my money on a in warranty Megane sport R26 if it was me. 2.0T and an LSD chipped to over 260bhp

Hi All ( new to the forums of PistonHeads )
I've not actually driven one of these or even the older 197's, but I have sat in both and I don't actually mind the interior of them. I've actually ordered one in White (I would have test driven it but the salesman didn't think I was certain enough and didn't want to waste his time letting me test drive it, which I don't think it's the way to go as it probably would had persuaded me more if I had, but I ended up orderin one a week later, but by then, the car had been returned to another dealer), but you seriously have to see it in the flesh, it looks way better than it does in pictures and I'm not too fond of the alien green too.
But the interior isn't actually that bad, you can liven it up with the Renault ID stuff and have either yellow inserts across the dash or carbon inserts which I've added to my car and looks quality too, so they have taken a bit of thought into the interior, but this is the best that they could have done, especially as it is only a mid life face lift, changing the complete design of the interior would have cost a lot and won't happen till round 2011/12 when the new design for the whole car comes out. It's true that the interior isn't great, I love my interiors (think its an important part of a car) and think that the new Civic Type R's interior is one of the best (I'm into my futuristic, high tech gadgets and funky stuff) and I'm not really into the bare and simplistic styles of Lotus Elises, but thats just my opinion, and I think that the interior for the Clio 200 is ok.
I've heard nothing but good things about both the 197 and the 200, so I seriously can't wait till I get mine through, I can't exactly recommend the Clio as I haven't driven it, but I personally would not touch a Mini, I've drive one in the past for a couple of weeks and can't see whats all the hype about them. From the outside its a big car (compared to the old ones) but once you open the door, you can see that the doors are real thick and the inside isn't very spacious, but inside the Clio it is actually quite roomy. Plus there are loads of little annoyances about the Mini, fair enough the central speedo is a cool idea, but it's a pain in the backside to actually see how fast your going, fair enough there's also a digital display where a normal speedo is, but when your low on petrol all you see is an image of the petrol icon and your resorted to looking at the central speedo to see how fast your going. And I find that the review mirror is massive and I struggle to see the road when taking a long easy left
Sorry for the long rant, my first post and I had a lot to catch up on

Hi all
I am very interested in getting one of these, and test drove a 197 at the weekend.... however, anyone know how different a 197 is from a 200 from driving both? there are supposed to be a few changes (steering, torque, gearing) but i was wondering what the real world difference was? Also, can you lot that have bought one of these tell me what the real world price is like? I know what my dealer wants but what have you all been paying?
best regards
rox

Hi people,
Im not that clued up on cars but i really want to buy a clio rs200, i want to get it in liquid yellow, recaro seats, cup chassis, black alloys. What is an exterior anthracite pack? I would also like to get graphics to make it look "cooler" lol any ideas how to get that included? Or do i have to do that privately?
This will be my 2nd car, im 20 years old and havent been driving long, when i get the clio rs200 ill have 1 years no claims, but because im British Forces based in Germany i am insured European wide and will be looking at £215 a month which i think is pretty reasonable!
Ill be going from my clio 1.2 75bhp to the clio rs200 haha i can't wait!

Ah but i dont like lemon cars, but the liquid yellow really is nice, it certainly stands out from that crap lemon yellow that makes chavs think they have a nice car, and partly the reason i want it in yellow is because i think it will sell alot easier years down the line.
From what i have read of that thread it just sounds like he was the 1 in a thousand that got a slightly dodgy one, from all the reviews and threads from forums, it really does sound like the car to buy

No, I won't be that cruel.
Lemon = common term for a problematic car.
I've had my Clio 200 for 2 months now, and done 1500 miles so far. I came from a 1.7 Puma, and the 200 is a massive step up in every aspect. It's not the fastest in a straight line but the speed you can carry through corners is immense.
As for the comparison with the 197, well the power difference is negligable, but there is more low down torque, and a lot of people who have switched from a 197 to 200 say that the overall package is definitley a step up. Get over to the renaultsport community forum and see what people are saying.
Car looks much better in the flesh than photos. In fact I'd go as far as saying it looks pretty unimpressive in photos, but when you stand next to one it looks very purposeful and certainly gets a lot of looks from passers by.
An exceptional car, and I can't wait until the engine properly opens up after 10k or so.
