Well I wouldn't count out the internal combustion engine just yet. In the future they may not run on petrol, but I reckon the last personal cars to roll off production lines will be powered by internal combustion engines. If you fast forward 50yrs from now I reckon the H&S brigade would have banned cars altogether and we will all be ferried around in some form of automated pods horrified at the prospect that only 50 yrs ago people were allowed to be in control of 1.5 ton lumps of metal hurtling along open roads shared with cyclists and pedestrians.

I'd love to see a race between the V8 Atom and the V8 Caterham Levante. Both with a 100bhp per tonne!!!! Reckon they'll have the same engine?

Saunders believes the future of the car industry lies away from the combustion engine, and will therefore be looking to new technologies such as fuel cells and electric powertrains for his company's new project.
THUNK! That's the sound of a lightweight sportscar from Somerset being hitched to the back of the predictable eco-bandwagon.

Somebody please explain why you would handicap a car that's sole purpose is to deliver thrilling driving experiences and track-fun (and spends 99% of its time in a garage by weighing it down with batteries and a heavy, eco-guilt-ridden conscience? weeping
You clearly haven't watched http://videos.streetfire.net/video/Drag-Race-600-h...

Don't get me wrong, I am with most people on here in respect of loving anything petrol driven but fk me, I never expected an electric car to blow away a Carrera GT quite so convincingly.
