Bloody hell mate, calm down. He was only saying that the engine in a Focus ST might be related to that currently in the TT-RS. It was a comment that was completely on-topic and didn't really need any explaining. If you think that's an insult fair enough, but there's no need for the torrent of abuse that you seem to like handing out at any opportunity.

Blimey rs-bloke, relax.

On topic, I like the look of this motor, and I'm not a fan of the TT generally. However I feel £45k is a joke. An Focus RS is £20k less. £20k !! That is a crazy saving for arguably a better car. Sorry Audi, close but no cigar. frown

The arguments about the Audi being significantly more expensive than a Ford arent really relevent.

The Audi will have a much nicer interior, hold it's value better, and be better put together, I for one would never spend over £20k on a Ford, but would spend significantly more for an Audi.

The Audi is aimed at an entirely different market altogether, you really think someone who wants to buy an Audi will consider a Ford an aletrnative? Lol, not likely, the cars are aimed at very different age groups and types of people, no way would someone over 30 with a good income in a nice area drive around in a Ford that to most people looks like a chavved up Focus, Audi have aimed their car at their target buyer, Ford at theirs, and I think this TT RS is fantastic and very much what people who buy cars like Porsche, Mercedes, BMW etc would consider a competitor.

The Ford is nice too, for it's price and market it fills a good gap I guess, but it's no competition.

I just read it again and you are still an idiot. The guy was only making a harmless comment and somehow you managed to take total offense. By the time you got called a cretin it was because you absolutely, totally and completely deserved to be called a cretin. If you still feel hard done by I'd suggest you take your own advice, go back and read it again and if that doesn't change your mind then have a long lie down in a dark room and repeat to yourself "I shall never go onto an internet forum again" 1000 times.

Good luck smile

Christ mate, I take it you reside in the house of Lords, drink afternoon tea and eat cucumber sandwiches?

Bit badgest are we?

Yes I own a focus RS and I certainly would'nt swap it for a TT. As for better build quality/hold there money better I think you my friend are living in the past.

My Girlfriend owns a BMW my Mother has a Mercedes coupe, they spend far more on servicing/parts than I do on my Ford (and I track it)
My mothers Merc is rusting and its only 4 years old! my Gf BMW broke down the other day due to the coolant bottle spliting in half (almost wrecked her engine) then BMW charged her £125 to fit a new one and do some 2 min diagnostic checks!
What a joke!

Anyhow the TT RS looks nice, but I think you would have to be a brave man/hairdresser to spend that much on one.

When are people going to drop the hairdresser comments about the TT? With the original one, yes, it was pretty crap as a drivers car in standard form, and was mainly about looks, but the new one is in a different league, and that's the standard one, not the RS.

I'm just looking forward to when one of the Focus RS owners gets shown up by some "hairdresser". Maybe then they'll realise that they shouldn't pit down cars they've clearly never driven.

Unfortunately it's the same story as with a Boxster (which I think is a brilliant car). The car has a reputation now which is pretty much impossible to shake in the general public's eyes...

The derision the G8yman receives is far worse.....a poverty-stricken full-time hairdresser, part-time rent boy-girl, unsure of his/her sexuality....

I think you have got the wrong end of the stick with my comment my friend.

The TT has the reputation as a hairdressers car probably because its a car for anyone (women/old people young people my two gay friends!) unlike Mitsi EVO's, Scoobies, FRS, Clio V6, VXR's etc which are seen as more manly aggressive purposeful cars.

Im not slating the engineering side of the new TT, I have driven a FSI model and was very impressed, great for going to work in or driving to the south of France.

Anyhow why are you sticking up for the TT when you drive the S3 surely if there so great would'nt you have bought a TT or where you worried about the reputation of the TT? (did that factor into it) I personally think you made the right choice, and yes I have been in a new shape S3.

PS not to sound big headed or un sportsmanship like, but I've seen off plenty of TT's on track/road, but it is a bit unfair as my car is tuned for the track.

At the end of the day its personal preference and I'd prefere to save myself 43k and buy a M3 CSL and keep the change!

This is one that I don't get at all. The Cayman is a fantastic driver's car and pretty rare to boot. How on earth it's got any kind of a reputation outside the petrol head communities is beyond me, I'd have one in a shot.

I'm not sure that it did, in its own right. The huge majority of people probably thing a Cayman is a 911 when they see it.

Does anybody on here believe Lotus' claim of 300% (three hundred percent!) stiffer chassis of the Evora compared with the Elise's?

Marketing. The same as those back seats. You could put your children in the deep freezer as well. Same clautrophobic feeling. And sight.

Evora the better driver's car than CaymanS? Not.
Another McPherson's strut fan.... Why would you be surprised the Evora would outhandle the Porsche....

Quattro uses torque sensing centre differential and is usually capable of multi-mode operation so a selectable FWD/RWD or 4WD modes. it does have a true 4WD mode.
Sorcery. Mine's just got a knob with which I can lock or unlock the centre and rear diffs. (Which means it's better in the snow than yer modern version.)

BTW as far as I know the true quattro systenm is always 4WD - the bias alters according to conditions (q.v. torsen) but it's always 4WD. Haldex as you rightly say is not.

Do you often start fist-fights? You sound like an angry little man. Insecure maybe? The guy was making conversation and you go off like he's just told you your cock is smaller and more pathetic than a Lidl chipolata, which it almost certainly is.

well i am actually quite well renowned for my ample endowment but that is another matter. i guess as i got a bit pissed off at this one statement i must be an angry man all the time, just as you are a week late to the party it must mean you are constantly a bit sloow all the time too. makes sense doesnt it?

NO!
