I like very much. British Beef - Mad in a Good Way (TM).

Way out of my league but nice all the same.

Gorgeous. Love them, if i had 60k to spunk on a motor it would be that, no brainer.

Compared to its rivals it's a bargain and you get a lot of equipment as standard. Also M5's and RS6's are too common these days, I don't even take a second look at them when you see one. The Jag is a really cool car and that engine note is so sweet. I so badly want one!!

Great to see Jaguar make a world beating car again, also sounds like it's still a 'proper' Jaguar.

As for the lights; they are like that so that customers can change their own headlight bulbs.

I don't have 60k to spend on a car, so my opinion doesn't count but for what it's worth:

I'm glad that a lot of people do seem to like this car and i think it's a genuinly good car but I'm not convinced about the styling. It's not low & mean like the X300 XJR always seemed to look, yes, I know you get bugger all interior space.

Additionally, it has all this engine trickery on it CPS, variable intake tract length etc. for an efficient engine then has alot of its good work undone by having a supercharger bolted on to it. To me, this seems like an inefficient way of getting additional power (at full power, I think that the old XJR's supercharger took about 70bhp to run it - I'm sure someone reading this will know a more accurate figure). I understand that turbocharging is a more efficient way of charging an engine.

I hope it sells well.
Not all Jaguars are low like the older XJ, the MK2 for example.

Loved the car. Outrageously quick, although I'm not sure I was quite as keen to get the keys as Chris tells it!

Yeah, nice and everything... Doesn't give me that "yeah look how awesome the sports model looks" of say, the C63 AMG, or E60 M5, or even the M3. The outside is just a bit... Boring. Even an RS4 is more exciting-looking than this!

What I liked about the XFR was its dual personality.

Fancy heading home after a tough day? Well just turn off the 'dynamic' mode, used D instead of S on the auto, set the climate and pop on something relaxing on the DAB and waft all the way home.

Fancy an early morning blast? Well select S, select dynamic, turn the traction to the appropriate setting, use the paddle shift and the car firms up, the throttle responds in an instant, the gearchange is super fast and it starts to sound like a muted Nascar.

...
is this not what the M5 can already do with a touch of the 'M' button so to speak?

I love it.. To be honest although I am in great admiration of the German Counterparts I am confused and a little bewidlered by 7 speed gearboxes, 10 way differentials 8 turbos and the like.. You can always rely on Jaguar to simply supercharge an already glorious V8 and wrap it all in a stylish body... The name Jaguar still has something very Evocative about it..People won't hate you. Well done Jaguar

Oh dear, so it's another problem drinker, like the M5. Not entirely surprising, I suppose.

Great review, however, am i the only one who hasn't warmed to the XF's appearance?

No mate.I went on a factory tour 18 months ago and was disappointed to see the stary, bug-eyed headlights and plastic grill. The rear is huge and if this was a BMW the journo's would slate it. Admittedly I've not driven on and you would be either a fool or very, very rich to buy a petrol one.

Having driven an M5 too, i'd argue that it can't waft as well as the Jag, but the Jag goes as hard as the M car.

Best of both worlds IMO, and owning a Jag is just so much nicer smile

Definately a lovely car, however, I've been put off by the scary depreciation of the XF range. Better sticking with German in my opinion.

What makes you say that?

That looks a bit bland for an 'R'. The old S Type 'R' had a lot more presence than the standard model.

Over 500 bhp though, combined with the discreet looks, and here we have a super-sleeper thumbup

XF's are much better looking in the flesh, and even bigger, especially from a side-rear view.

So it was you driving this around Kingston on Saturday afternoon!

It looked great, particularly as this example doesn't have the chromed up lower air intakes, very discrete (unlike an M5) - I didn't clock it as an 'R' until I heard the noise and saw the badge.
