Hi all,

Just curious whether the Ascari A10 (2006) made it into production. I believe 50 were planned to be built, but have never seen one for sale. Have googled - but nothing seems to suggest any but the demo's were ever built.

PS I'm not looking to buy one - I should be so lucky!

I thought it was basically a race car that got SVA so they could lap it on Top Gear and they could pay Zwart or whatever his name is back for filming at his track and playing with his toys.

I thought I read somewhere that the plan was to build 50 at a price of around £350,000. Wasn't it shown as a producion ready car at the 2006 MPH show in Birmingham? I guess these things just run into financial difficulties as usual. But just wanted to find out if any did see it's way into a private buyers hands.

I bet even at 350k, shifting 50 would still be at a loss for the business.

Having just said that the owner of Ascari "Klass Zwart", is a very rich man and i'm sure he could probably build 50 of these with his loose change.

There was only ever one A10 built, Zwart's personal car. Probably resides at his circuit in Spain now.

Which were the ones used in the British GTs? Were they A10s?

Not sure what the BGT cars were, although they certainly share something with the A10 - I believe the yellow car was the only road A10.

That probably explains why I can only find the yellow one with reg OU55 GWJ.

Hi there,

The Ascari A10 was a more extreme version of the KZ1 road car.

The cars raced in FIA GT3, British GT and a few other series across the world were KZ1's.

The A10 was the Yellow car tested on Top Gear and a few other programmes and was seen at loads of motorshows etc

Ascari also built the KZ1R which has been seen at a few events, this was effectively a GT3 racer for the road. This car is stunning in the flesh.

Of course the pre-cursor to all of these was the standard KZ1, itself a stunning car.

I also have this pic taken on my old film camera from Supercar Sunday 2005, its a KZ1 race car prototype from memory.

I think Broughtons used to be the UK agent for Ascari, I remember them having a Blue KZ1 for sale last year. There must have been a few KZ1's built over the years, but I think there is only 1 A10 in exsistence.

Hope this helps.

Regards

Tim

Cheers for the info Tim. Seems a pity that the plan was to build 50 (or at least 10) road going A10's, to showcase it and then nothing.

Saw the Ascari A10 in Aberdeen (UK) in 2003. It was in black with black duck tape holding on various body parts including the front windscreen!
Asked the owner what it was and he said that it was a prototype car not yet in production.
Looked round the back and saw the badge. Mega loud car and totally amazing. 3 dudes wearing long black trench coats got out of it.
