They tested this V8 SuperTaxi on Aussie top gear a few weeks ago and found it went much quicker around their track when they put smaller wheels on it.

No that was the Walkinshaw Performance supercharged version of the 6.2L HSV Clubsport R8, which is completely different from the HSV W427, it's basically the equivalent of the Vauxhaull Bathurst S in the UK (UK arm of the same company).

It's the F6, the V8 GT-P has a more extravagant rear spoiler and bonnet bulge and the more discreet V8 GT-E has no rear spoiler.

OK - fair enough. Those V8 SuperTaxis look pretty similar to me.

I'm probably going to be black balled from the pistonheads forum, and I apologise in advice for a sounding like a killjoy, but anyway;

I'm all for having a blast on public roads, and I've been in a few situations where in hindsight I would have benefitted from being a little less of an idiot, perhaps a little less speed and pick an apex which leaves me on the right side of the road. But to claim that it was a 'save' that avoided the Carina, whereas plainly the dividing line between luck and judgement had been crossed a mile back I think is irresponsible, and verging on plain arrogant.

I only say this with experience, and a strange coincidence involving my uncle. When he was travelling back to uni on a monday morning in his dads car he was in a rush and decided that as the road was quiet and he could see the other side of the blind bend that it would be ok to overtake the lorry in front. Unfortunately he couldn't see the car in the dip, and met with it head on sending the other car spinning in to the ditch. The volvo he was driving and the saab were write offs - lucky he wasn't driving french tin. Anyway they both got out unscathed. years later I was at uni, and chatting with my best mates dad and recounting driving experiences. It turns out that he was the one driving the saab, and my best mate was no more than an 2 month bump, in fact the shock of his mum finding out about the accident nearly resulted in an early termination! Anyway we're still friends but the story of the coincidence has been told many times over.

Anyway I guess my uncle never learned as he's still as arrogant on the road as ever, and still extremely lucky.

I agree that, as written, that incident sounds a little... wrong.

Sounds like 1980s or so - Citroen BX or Volvo 740? Hmmm...

I'd like to see a review of the FPV F6. It has an awesome straight 6 engine. I think you'd like it!

Haven't driven the FG version as they are quite hard to get hold of! Driven the previous versions and they weren't too bad at all. The BF F6 Auto was one of the fastest cars I have ever been in, the torque doesn't stop, ok it was modded but I did have a drive of it before it was modded and it was very good. The manual one was also very nice but was factory stock, gearbox way better than the GM equivalent of the time. (I know the gearbox was nearly the same as the GM one but the Blue one was so much nicer to use.) 270kw stock they were supposed to be, yeah right!
