RE: Driven: SEAT Ibiza Cupra 1.4 TSI 180
Discussion
Maybe the styling will date quickly, but the new Ibiza looks way better than the cosmetically upgraded Clio.
For better or worse these performance versions just embrace the hot hatch design of the future-small and economical, but powerful blown engine, multispeed DSG,electronic diff...

Am I the only one that sees echoes of the Kia Pro_ceed? I'm not saying the Ibiza is an ugly car by any means, but I just keep thinking "hang on I've seen that before..." when I catch it from the right angle.
Just what I was thinking.... bet the Ibiza doesn't have a 7 year plan though.rsstman said:

The new Ibizas are good looking cars.
i will take that as sarcasm, they really are very ugly things. In the flesh they are actually pretty smart looking and the interior isn't as bad as it looks.
Its one of those cars that isn't particularly photogenic but close up the design works a lot better.
Oh and also if you notice over 2 generations it has only increased in weight by 50kg which is damn good nowadays, I can't believe this class of car has got over 1200kg in some cases!! My EP3 is 1204kg and I think that is heavy!

Since the Mk1 Leon Cupra R, which was universally praised, I don't think SEAT have made another car worth buying...
Unfortunately I think that this is true.I had an LCR and I really wanted to follow it up with a new Leon Cupra but I didn't like it much, so I bought a Focus ST instead.

I have to say that it is one nice looking car! (not being sarcastic either!)
shame the driving experience doesnt match the looks (and that the auto box cant take anymore torque....yeah right - nice ploy seat but i dont think you would engineer a car with no tolerance in its components!)

1.4 and DSG. 17yo tuning options are limited... or very expensive!
So you buy it because it is good vfm?
Next to the Clio?
So you buy it because it looks good?
You can be blind and have a license?
So you buy is because it handles well?
Next to a Clio?
So you buy it for a drivers car?
With DSG and FWD?
I can't think why you'd buy this other than to display automotive ignorance.
VAG creating another niche market for a niche car. They really haven't quite worked out this hot hatch market yet have they? Which is amazing considering they created it all those years ago!

After about 5k miles they feel tired and the interior is ste.
Ibiza cupras have always been a favourite of mine. However this cupra just doesnt seem that differant looking than the normal ibiza, the bocanegra will probably change that. And the alloys just dont suit the look of the car at all, if i were to buy one i would definately opt for another option wheel. Other than that fantastic car and by far i feel the best hot supermini

calm down and chill out.
