It's a funny one. I'm not agreeing or disagreeing, but a chap I used to work with didn't own a car and went everywhere on his motorbike. The Radical is more practical than his bike was...

Another thing to think about is that the Dauer 962 could be argued as being more of a road car than the SR8! It all gets a bit silly after a while.

I think the best thing we can do is look at it qualitatively, not quantitively. Clearly an RS4 estate doing quick lap means something different to an M3 CSL doing a quick lap, and we all know why. Equally the Radical lap has a different significance to an Elise lap.

Just in case you missed it- I know Sport Auto isn't the easiest magazine to find in the UK...

Very interesting.

However, just in case you missed it, conspicuous by its absence though it is, the article contains zero references to the Sport Auto-Trophy - that is the accepted benchmark Road Legal Production Car laptime contest, run since 1995, to which everyone refers and, by dint of your similarly-worded PR, believed the Radical had topped.

There are no comparative references to the Gumpert, the Donkervoort, or any other previous Sport Auto-Trophy record holders in the above article, or indeed an updated top times list.

It is a standalone article about a Radical event, merely confirming a lap of 6m 48s. This laptime has never been in dispute, but you are fully aware that it is not eligible for the Sport Auto contest, despite your PR willingly the interested public to accept that your self-titled "Nürburgring production car lap record" was one and the same.

Planting the above article and walking away to leave an impression amongst the readership that you have gained Sport Auto acceptance at the top of the Production Car laptime contest, and in so doing supposedly knocked the Gumpert off the top, was careless and inattentive at best, and likely negligent.

Shame on you.

And that's before we get back to considering what actually constitutes a production car.

Not so fast, Mr Wizard.

Pucker up and apologise for jumping to conclusions, for there is egg on your face.
