I might get one for nine grand in about 10 years time.

Or if any millionaires write one off can I have first dibs on the engine please. Now, would it fit in an E30?
Dunno, but the V10 will:

Thats going to be an interesting drive.

I've seen the "old" V12 fitted to some E30s as well, so its always going to be possible.
I'd like that twin turbo V12 in my E38.

Meh, they fitted a straight six in the E30, and this one can't be much longer, just twice as wide! Job Jobbed. smile I thought that originally when I first saw it! hehe I would love to have a ride in one of these, not drive, per se, just sit in the back and waft elegantly about, play with the TV etc...

Thanks for the engine pictures to, really enjoyed looking at them, wasted about 15minutes boxedin

I like the Li, mostly because the passenger door is longer than the driver's!

I'd definitely buy one........In about 3 years time when prices have come down a little smile
At £40k or less in 3 years, it would be a compelling buy and a sensible alternative to the Audi S8.

Here's an example of fast they depreciate.

Thats £2.15 per mile in depreciation alone

Nah, I don't think so. The big Benzes are seen as the pinnacle of the german auto industry over there, (and in many more places). In addition, and as accomplished as it'll no doubt be it's not exactly good looking. The interior isn't even 40K special let alone 100K special.
Something about BM interiors doesn't lend themselves to feeling luxurious. Functional yes, and well built too, but classy? No.

Then again, I saw a new E class coming the other way about an hour ago and it looks like sick on wheels

That´s my 2016 car purchase sorted, then. Wafter par excellence!
It has to be said that you could reasonably expect a lot more power and torque from 6 litres of twin turbo V12, though.

For me this reinforces what Clarkson said about the current BMW saloon range, you buy them by the foot now. This goes beyond continuity of design. I`m a big fan of the V12 Sevens having had a shark nose. The older cars had a certain style, where this latest model seems a bit anodyne to me. No doubt the engineering and technology are right up there but am finding myself agreeing with other posters; where`s the luxury? That engine is a masterpiece, can`t wait for someone like DMS or Hartge to get hold of it. Who remembers the BMW advert with the 50p piece balanced on top of the 1st generation V12?

This will render your E23 - as it will my well remembered E38 - but the rose tinted anachronisms they are.

Luxury?

You must be joking.

This is better than a Phantom.

Not really, the current 3 Series coupe and saloon take that award.

I don't want to be too negative about the 760, but at 94k I would want something that looked quite a bit more special.

I bought mine (old shape V12) last year - was £95k new, and £24k with 30K miles and 3 years old. The person who paid the depreciation was a plc for their chairman, although they remain a rare sight in London. The car was on lease from Lombard. Hate to think what the monthly cost was - £3k / month ?

In Shanghai however they are two a penny so assume the market is out there...

And I understand a 6 litre is normal in US so standard fitment over the pond.
