RE: PH Heroes: Porsche 911 Turbo

Thanks chaps for the compliments
I've done alot of work on it - Penske made custom shocks for it - but it's not lowered at all- the front spoiler is probably lower than standard - 18" wheels - but the rolling radius is the same with the lower profile tyres

Favorite 911, just love this shape, 993 is v nice as well. I'd like one of these, and an Audi RS2 to complement the Merc 500E which I have.
500E!!Good choice, Alongside a 911 it's another car I want in life.
Ironically the 500E was also built by Porsche.

Having had two 3.2's, a 964 and a 993 in normal aspiration I can honestly say I'd love a turbo and have made it my aim to have one by the end of next year.
I think employing a blind man to lob in the switches adds a quirkiness that puts more modern cars to shame. All the switches work, they're just in stoopid places. I love the positioning of the sunroof switch for example.
I've seen a few 930's with 993 turbo engines plonked in them and apparantly they manage to get all the power down.
I'll be getting one as soon as I can muster the reddies. I love them.

Definitely one of my all time favourite cars. I think the later ones were unfortunately just a bit less OTT.
..
Mine too, I was fortunate to own one of the last 5 speed ones with an LSD. It seemed like this car had been put together by some blokes in Stuttgart(rather than some factory assembly line somewhere) and therefore the charm...
A huge "plus one" from me too. Always loved them as I am of that poster-on-the-bedroom-wall-as-a-boy age too. I have a slightly secret aim to head for a 911 Carrera 3.2 in the next years, not sure how that will pan out but one can dream.
The Turbo has to be the one to have and a huge  to all you guys who have managed to live the dream. Good writeup too Riggers, thanks for it as it spurs me on to have one eventually.
As some others have said, it would be great to see more photos. All this talk of the crazy switches - do any of you have a photo of this? Or just general interior shots to see?
Final note from me on this one - I've dug up a Seinfeld box set and started watching it again. On a wall in his appartment, there is a poster of a 911, taken from the rear, the car looks to be jumping over a yump as I am sure it's off the ground! Does anyone know of this poster or perhaps it was a one-off for the show?
