I saw one of these up close in Waitrose car park today. I have only one comment on the styling:

rofl

It really does make the Cayenne look beautiful.
Funny because when I saw one in the flesh the first time, I decided if I had the money I would get a fully specced up Panamera turbo, very classy.

If someone had told me this morning that it looked worse in the metal than in pictures then I would have laughed at them... I think it's genuinely the ugliest mass produced car I've ever seen, with the possible exception of the Pontiac Aztec and I'm not even sure about that.

Ah well, as long as someone likes it. smile

I think this is evidence of the sheep like movement of crowds. "Everyone" says its ugly, so it must be. I'm not so sure.

But you know what, I saw a Panamera just before Christmas in Mayfair parked behind a Jaguar XF. And you would never guess , but from several angles the Porsche looked better. It certainly had more presence. It looked more expensive ( which of course it is ) . From the front it is certainly better looking than the Jaguar ( the XF headlights ruin that car IMO ) and while the Porsche is a bit heavy in the rear quarters, it is by no means a complete minger.

A Maybach rolled past them a little later on. Now that car IS ugly.

I think it is unfair to single out the Panamera.

I agree that the front looks OK. Overall though, I stand by my statement that I have never seen an uglier production car. It was parked next to two "normal" sized cars (a Focus and a 3-series I think) and looked like someone had taken a toy car of the wrong scale and put it next to two others.

To be fair to it, it did seem to be fulfilling its functional brief. They managed to shoehorn a fair amount of shopping into the boot and at least one kid into the back.

The detailing (which is what lets the XF down) looked pretty good. It's just that the overall shape and scale is so utterly terrible. I really wish they'd admitted that what they were building was an estate car and styled it like one. It would have looked so much better and been more practicable.

I've gone off it enormously but front on, it's fine but as you move around the car it becomes progressively awful until with an eye ful of its backside the only reaction is full headshake.

However, I have it from sources I trust implicity that the delivery is monumental and like little else.

Thinking about it, I think it would have looked quite nice as an estate actually. Kinda like a productionised version of that Ferrari one that occasionally pops up.

I think it is very colour sensitive.

I have seen a black one ( liked it ), silver ( not so sure ) and white ( horrible , made the rear 3/4 look very fat).

A blue one I also saw was indeed quite handsome. And the Panamera has the advantage that no-one thinks you are a chauffeur..

Popular opinion is that the Maserati Quattroporte is more handsome. I don't concur.

This one was either silver or very pale blue. Hard to tell under artificial light.

well 6 months of panamera ownership have been fantastically impressive. It does everything porsche said it would , a superb cuiser , hit sports plus and it lights up ,,,, it was even good in snow ..... alas the used prices werent holding up so its gone before the bite was too big , replaced with something slightly less practical but with a noise that makes you laugh out loud .... one criticism of the panamera .... it was a bit too quiet
