Oh dear, my grandparents have just.....

......washed their car with a brillo pad!!!!!!!!!!!
I came home after a trip out, noticed my Grandparent fairly tidy Micra was surrounded by water and a bucket and hose, "it must have been washed I thought, but wait why does it appear to be battleship grey and not the bright silver it was?"
On closer inspection the whole thing has been rubbed down with a brillo pad, it looks like it's been sanded down ready for a respray.
I pointed this out to them and they insisted they used an old brillo pad that 'had gone soft' and that 'it was fine'. They really won't accept it is now ruined, in couple of places were there was birdst they have gone right through the paint as well.
Suffice to say I won't be getting the T-cut out.
Old people, just can't tell them anything.

Any chance of some pics, you know, just for comedy value?
My grandfather (may he rest in peace) once bought a then-three year old ex fleet mondeo with about 90k on the clock. It was lovely for the money and in really good order, other than it needed a small amount of work on one of the dark metallic body colour bumpers.
Now you or I would put a couple of hundred quid the way of the chipsaway man, but not my grandfather. Oh no. Dark grey gaffa tape (you know the stuff) and brushed touch up paint!
Parents told us on no uncertain terms were we to tell him what a mess it looked as it might upset him!
My father is now an OAP, he has recently purchased a new shape E class diesel, the E250 which is not a bad choice. Fuel injector went pop after a couple of thousand miles and he is trying to reject the car some three days later as they are awaiting a part from Germany!
So anyone trying to get in touch with a constantly engaged Gloucestershire trading standards or even MBHQ Milton Keynes I would just like to offer my apologies...

I may regret asking this question, but why have you painted your bonnet black?Standard mod for the ricers is a carbon fibre bonnet (theory of removing weight high up / at the ends of the car to reduce its polar moment). Now having spent a lot on a carbon fibre bonnet you don't want to paint it, as no-one would know! Think that's where the style comes from.
Our old neighbours used to wash the "Keeping up appearances" Rover 216 SLi that they used for travelling to bible discussion with Jif every Saturday at 9am, come rain or shine, even in weather so cold the water on the tarmac would freeze. It was quite satisfying watching the paint slowly loose its sheen!

Well it looks better.Brillo-pad eh? Thats a good effort! Most people dont give car care much thought tho, Dad always used this abrasive bush to clean his alloys until i pointed out to him that they were 'painted' silver.. just like the paint on the rest of the car so using a sponge and soapy water was the way forward :-)
