ADAC Membership In The UK - Exclusions ?
Discussion
we had full ADAC European cover last year for a trip to Morocco (obviously not FOR morocco, but for the journey through Spain beforehand) for our ancient Land Rover 130.
We did require their services, as the gearbox destroyed itself in Morocco and we nursed it back to our hotel in southern Spain and called ADAC who were completely brilliant. They had a low-loader out to us within 2hrs, and booked us on an sleazyjet flight home the following morning. The 130 weighed nearly 3 tons and is over 6mtrs long; the low loader they sent for it was a little too small in my opinion but the guy tied it all down and trundled off into the sunset.
We have a GPS tracker on it so we monitored its progress through Spain, France, Germany, France and back into the UK. Took 3 weeks as obviously it has to go to depots and be tied in with other cars making the same repatriation journey but throughout, ADAC were great. I never heard about value of the vehicle being an issue as far as repatriation was concerned.

That sounds encouraging - thanks.
Out of interest what is the value of your Land Rover? Perhaps I am worrying un-neccesary and such policies only really apply to people expecting repatriation for a rusty old Vectra worth 400 quid, but I worry that on paper a 6 figure mileage E39 is worth £0, yet to me its priceless.

Ive called them twice, once to my house after a ignition barrel collapsed and then after an accident, from silverstone to Bromsgrove (over 50 miles) on a low loader.
Call the number, go through the problem, they send the AA and you receive a text of ETA
Great company, just setting up a policy is a little more effort than most

Work for the AA and when I called out ADAC members we treat them like any other member. You have to be carefull though last time when I went out to a BMW with gearbox borked ADAC would only authorize recovery to local BMW dealers ( authorized only) member had to buy seprate AA recovey. This is not the norm when I had recover cars with ADAC membership must add this did not happen

Has anyone got a WORKING phone number for their membership? I've been trying all morning and just get a recorded message (+ 49 94 15 23 44) and no option to leave a message.
I'm getting no response to emails either.
This isn't sounding all it's cracked up to be.

and it was answered in three rings.
I've had ADAC Membership since 2007.
Told this story on here before but here it is again.
Got stuck at Hanover Airport and called the ADAC without membership. Very friendly, English speaking, chap came out and sorted out my problem, didnt want paying and asked me if I would consider joining at €83,- the first year and €79,- the following years with full European cover.
I joined and believe it or not, I had to call them out again on two weeks later.
My Tuscan, having just had a rebuild, was making a hell of a noise.
They came out, inspected it and sent in a report, giving me a rental in the mean time. The next day they called me and we discussed sending it to a German specialist.
When I explained that the engine was under warranty they immediately agreed to ship her back direct to the specialist in the UK.
In 2009 I had an accident, again in north Germany and they shipped my car back to the UK address of my choice. Again giving me a rental.
Two years ago my latest Tuscan had its ECU die in Toulouse on the way back to the UK.
Apart from the recovery by the French Garage and the ADAC confirmation that they would ship her back to the Specialist in the UK ( still on their files ), the French guys real pleasure in knowing I was covered by the ADAC was another reason to have total confidence in the ADAC and their reputation.
In addition to offering to cover the cost of that nights hotel, they also told me that the free rental was mine to use to the same schedule as our original holiday plans. So we were able to take a further 4 days to drive up to Calais rather than a single day dash.
When we got off the ferry in Dover, there was another rental waiting.
In the UK they have been out to my home twice. both flat battery. Only problem was when the AA man reversed back and knocked one of my walls over
Cant comment on the 50 miles thing.
Apart from the odd jokey comment about being recovered to a "good German garage" rather than a "Quaint old English village garage", They have always tried to speak English.
I cant praise them more highly.
Off to southern Spain in three weeks time in the Tuscan. I guess the ADAC are sweating

I used mine for the first time a couple of weeks ago.
There's some people saying that they aren't accepting UK members now - call the number above and give it a try.
Not so much that they aren't accepting - but they're refusing to renew me.There's some people saying that they aren't accepting UK members now - call the number above and give it a try.

I just signed up today, called the number in this thread - had to hold a bit but then someone picked up. I asked in my ropey German to speak to someone in English (please) and was transferred straight through to a chap who had me signed up with a partner plus membership inside 10 minutes.
