Well my plan is after I win the lottery this weekend to build the ultimate sleeper. So naturally I decided PH would be the best R&D tool at my disposal.

So basically I think we need to decide on (feel free to tell me what i am missing or just to bog off....)

Base vehicle

Engine

Gearbox/Drivetrain

suspension

Interior

Overall look

The car would be built in a garage located in the midlands to allow PHers to come along and help out with there expertise, In return they will be given timeshare rights on the finished article.

So first things first, What vehicle to base it on ?????
Once decided we can move on to the powerplant biggrin

I will kick it off but the one most people agree on wins biggrin

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1261535.htm

I think it needs to be big enough to take a powerfull engine but boring enough to shock the heck out of people when moving, and ( Im willing to be put right here ) I think the chassis should be a good starting platform for the handling side.

so phase 1 of this thread is deciding on the chassis?

Subaru legacy estate, poverty spec, its 4x4, big enough, excellent chassis boxxer engine ensures a wide, large engine bay.

Yep, i think first off, find a sleeper out of the box, something that shares a lot of it's DNA with something a lot more obvious.

Otherwise, you'd get the Primera to touring car spec, and it's still get pasted by something with a big engine.

Nissan Stagea springs to mind although it does look a little obvious

Base vehicle - 1996 Vauxhall Vectra 1.8L, in brown.
Engine - V8 unit from late 90s Opel Calibra DTM car.
Gearbox/Drivetrain - Xtrac semi-automatic, change drive to rear wheels.
suspension - BTCC Vectra or Calibra DTM suspension
Interior - original Vectra, no additions, no changes
Overall look - looking from the outside and inside like a standard unmolested Vectra, leave it messy, rusty or dirty.

In an ideal world, save the shell/body and interior and graft it back onto a BTCC or DTM spec chassis.

No one will expect it.

This is hilariously close http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XjcxTdCfV2M
Otherwise a volvo 960 with a mid mounted bmw twin turbo v12 and 4 wheel drive. I don't know if this exists but would be so so funny.
Lotus Carlton with a beige paintjob and a vauxhall bodykit and some engine tuning?

A Vauxhall Omega Estate would make a nice starting point, esp in black.

Most folk would think it was hearse.
Already RWD.
Can accommodate big engines.

hmmmm,this is a good one,how about;
vauxhall nova saloon poverty spec
faded light blue with rust
appropiate wheels to hide huge brakes painted silver/rust brown
monaro vxr8 banbridge(?) supercharged engine,retuned(600bhp standard)to maybe 700bhp
4wd conversion with monaro struts/hubs
6 pot brakes and 4 pot rears
quiet exhaust hidden underneath with tiny tailpipe welded on as per usual standard location
seam welded everywhere etc etc
think would be a giggle, especially when it destroyed skyline gtrs/scooby stis/ferraris etc off the line!!

I recently saw a fiat seicento fitted with a tuned c20xe for sale, would imagine that went well, although not sure id be happy doing 150mph in an italin tin can

Easy. Buy a Porsche 996 turbo, chop off the body & fit the bodyshell of your choice. I'm thinking Nissan Primera or Vw transporter.

Surely as a proper poke in the eye to the tree huggers a Prius should be the victim of choice, dispite its butt ugliness.
With a motor powered by nitromethane.

I also got my engines wrong, it was a V6 in the Calibra, but the Vectra DTM car used a V8. That one smile
