Hi Nick, just so that you realise where I am coming from here I have a bit of a reputation on PH for being a Pagani geek and am often called upon by Pagani owners and potential owners to give advice on particular cars or Pagani in general. As a matter of fact I count myself very privileged to have a personal relationship with the Pagani Factory. In addition I have built show winning cars for nearly 30 years so know good engineering and body work when I see it.

I have examined your videos and photos as best as possible and I commend you for the effort you have put in, but I am afraid the quality of your bodywork does not stack up to any kind of critical analysis. The reflections tell the whole story. If we take the rear black panel as an example (black being the colour most likely to show bad body and paint work) no consistent reflection is visible, you just see wave after wave. Your swage and shut lines are very inconsistent and your proportions are all wrong.

You said no moulds were used, to be honest this is not an excuse. It is still possible to get an excellent finish as long as you are willing to put in the time and the effort. Many excellent custom built cars have been produced this way. As an example of the time involved to produce good work it took me four months working every day for six hours a day to produce a showing winning paint job and that did not include all the metal work before hand.

You also said that those that have seen it in the flesh have been impressed, to be honest I would question their eye site or how honest they were being with you. If you want to see how it should be done then check on the web for the guy who hand built a Lamborghini Countach in his basement or the other chap that built a McLaren F1 replica.

If you truly believe the criticism you have received on here is unjustified then to help your case and us could you please publish some large format HD pictures to prove your case. I would be happy to retract everything I have said if you could show me that evidence.

In that case I take it all backthumbup

Just to show what can be done with a little effort. This is a pic of the first car I ever owned and built and was shot on the first day after it was finished at the Streetrod Nationals, it won a best paint award at that show against 1500 other cars and was my first ever attempt with a spraygun. You dont have to like the car but you cant denign the quality of the finish

Sorry to say that after looking through your build pics on your photo bucket account that I also feel this car is badly built.

To my eyes nothing on the body is symmetrical, the shut lines and swages are pathetic, the welding is abysmal, as for the roll bar that goes over the top of the screen ? it looks like it has been bent in a vice.

The interior trim looks like a 5 year old has done it, as for the wiring ? feck me its awful bud, make sure if any one is daft enough to own it they carry an extinguisher.

The whole car looks like a death trap, that's my honest opinion, hopefully Pagini them self will buy it and just burn it.

Sorry to be harsh but having been panel beating and painting for over 30 years and built a fair few cars in that time, this is the harsh reality.

I guess I must also be a Troll eh ?

Hi Nick,

I wont comment on the appearance of the car, you've clearly put a lot of time and effort into this project so well done on that account.

One thing that does spring to mind though is the engine, are my eyes deceiving me or have you hooked up industrial drain pipe to the turbo outlet to the intercooler? Have you logged the turbo outlet temperature and considered the limits of your plastic piping?

Nick,

Does the fact that the top bidder on your auction has only 1 feedback point (2 positive and 1 negative) concern you or has he/she been to see the car?

I have had a few problems here and there with eBay recently. I hope your sale goes well.

My only experience of an African country is limited to Egypt. I could write a lot about that country, but I'll restrict myself to just one observation that is typical. Supposedly 4 star hotel in Tahrir Square (that's prime downtown Cairo, where the Egyptian Museum is).

The bathroom sink strainer (? - that bit that prevents your belongings going down the drain) had gone AWOL at some point. Solution, not to purchase a replacement for pennies, but fashion a piece of metal sheet perhaps cut out of the base of a tin can - with holes made in it very evidently using a nail and hammer.
.
Sounds a bit like the supposedly 5 star Nile Hilton (or Nililton, as you have to call it for the taxi drivers).

I don't know if you missed these but would you mind answering them if you have a moment please?
Thanks

Having just read the whole thread and the ebay advert and accompanying "independent articles" there are a couple of things I'd like to know please Nick.

1 - In one of the articles if states a 0-60 time of sub 3 seconds and a top speed of 190mph, yet in another one of the articles it says these are your estimates. Which is it?

2 - 190mph!?!?!?!?! Have you ever driven it anywhere near this speed? My Tuscan is one of the last out the factory so it has actually been in a wind tunnel for some proper aero (big wing, front winglets) and it certainly keep you very much on your toes at 140mph+. At 190 I imagine it would be downright scary, and that's from a car that actually had factory design. I seriously doubt your car could reach 190mph and even if it did I doubt it could do it without bits falling off.

3 - And all other things aside this is the most important question. In one of your "independent articles" it is stated as fact that "American petrol heads unsuccessfully offered him $120,000 to buy it." If this is really true why are you now selling it for 10k?? Surely just call the Americans up and say "great news guys, you can have it for $100k".

My offer is open for anyone to come and have a look at it (until it goes)..

I had a bit of an event with the local police a while ago when i was out in my Ferrari, seeing the road in front of me was empty, excellent visibility for miles and no obstructions i buried the throttle and let the Ferrari do what it is good at....
I didn't see a cop car parked in a pub carpark behind me though, anyway they tried to catch me and failed, but as i was only a mile from my house they drove round, comments like, we were doing 90 and you were pulling away like we were stationary, how many points do you have etc, etc.. then they asked me where i had been, i told them i had been to buy some valve seals for the Zonda's V8, they were intrigued, so i opened the garage and they loved the car, really really loved the car, in the end they stayed for nearly an hour talking cars.. As for driving too fast, it wasn't mentioned again..

The same two policemen have been round a few times to check out the car.

This I have difficulty in believing, nice car but unless it's modified, not a hope of leaving much standing at 90mph..

The 90mph is the only part you're not believing?

This man is saying he was chased by police, who couldn't catch up with him and instead of sending additional units or a helicopter simply drove to his house. Why don't they do that with everybody failing to stop. Then to top it off, let him off both a speeding charge and a failing to stop one because he has a replica Zonda.

So far we have; Pagani have approved of this car, it has done 190mph, 'merican's offered him $120,000 and the police couldn't catch up with him.

See a pattern?

"The turbos have never spooled up and the car has never been driven faster than a few miles per hour!"

Yet you can advise a 0-60 of sub 3 secs and a top speed of 190 biggrinbiggrinbiggrin

Yet the ebay ad included this video of the car which he admits is not road legal.
It hasn't been submitted for an IVA test and, if and when it is, may very well fail it.

Oh dear...

Of all the unbelievable things that have been posted in this tread, this takes the top prize...

Unless of course you have a fantastic, engaging personality (that could make the BnB forget about the speeding and failure to stop) that doesn't translate well online!
