Well folks, it would appear that we are being 'dissed' on another forum.

http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=5...

Post #8 is the offending one, where we are quoted as "a pro-speeding website where posters fantasise about killing cyclists by smashing into them in their cars"

Now I've had run ins with this chap before, mainly over the saintly status of cyclists and his environ-mentalist attitude.

Feel free to register and re-educate him!

You're not conforming to his stereotype at all by going off on one about cyclists at the earliest opportunity are you?

Some people on push bikes take the piss. You see some equally 'special' filtering skills from a small number of motorcyclists too. Then you get people in cars - like the prat in the Golf who nearly took my wing off on the A10 last night - who try and do the same thing in a car.

So you get tts in all forms of transport. Being a tt is the problem that the guy on that forum has, and it's also the problem the guy who made you crash your bike has. One might argue it's the problem that people who endlessly rant about motorcyclists or cyclists or drivers simply for their choice of transport have too.

I've got to admit it is mainly frequented by left wing, soap dodgers; with a tendency to take offence by proxy.

Wait.

Lots of dirt on this guy

http://www.cyclingforums.com/archive/index.php/t-4...

In his consistent advocation of the persecution of motorists, it is
ironic that Spindrift does far more damage to the cycling movement
than he does to the motoring lobby. Not that he cares of course: he
never cycles. It is even alleged that he doesn't know how to. His
anti-car obsession is entirely negative and completely irrational. He
doesn't care about cyclists and he doesn't care about people dying on
the roads: he just uses those causes as excuses for his nasty,
spiteful, bull****-ridden crusade. If you're a cyclist, Spindrift is
using you for his own purposes, and you don't need to put up with it.

The way that he conducts himself on forums and newsgroups beggars
belief. Even many cyclists are utterly fed up with him. His lies,
liberal use of ad hominem, refusal to answer awkward questions, and
vitriolic invective are all carefully designed to cover up the gaping
holes in his arguments. He has a reputation like no other. There are
currently several pending lawsuits against him, and it is even
suspected that he is on the run from the police for mailbombing the
ABD, dangerously vandalising vehicles, and attacking motorists for no
reason. Despite the risk involved, he still cannot stop himself from
posting his poison, and abuses Internet cafe facilities in order to do
this. He is a dangerous individual and should not be approached.

A leaked email from Spindrift confirms what most of us already knew:
he knows that the Safe Speed position is correct, and that the
policies advocated by Paul Smith would save lives unlike speed
cameras, but he pretends to think otherwise, since such policies do
not fit in with his anti-car emotions. Thus, he considers the
persecution of motorists to be more important than the saving of
lives. We've now had it from the horse's mouth. It is clear from
this that he is a monster, and cyclists and motorists alike should
unite against his hateful spoutings and get him off the Internet, and
out of society, for good. Due to his mental state it is unclear
whether he would be imprisoned or committed, but either way, he will
be detained, and offered the help that he so desperately needs.
Personally I think that being committed would be best; prison would
facilitate continuation of his multiple drug habits, and it is vital
for him and everyone else that these addictions are terminated as soon
as possible. It may even be the case that they were responsible (at
least in part) for the start of his callous, hurtful campaign.

Every two-and-a-half hours in this country, a road user needlessly
dies. Some of these road users are motorists, some are pedestrians,
and some are cyclists. Some are children. Spindrift doesn't care
about any of these deaths, in fact he actively and knowingly
encourages policies which directly result in them. In many ways he
might as well be killing these poor, innocent people himself. He
would have done less damage if he'd murdered five people instead of
ever posting on the Internet. Incredible but true.

Spindrift kills cyclists. He isn't one himself. Those of you who
still support him should instead contribute to the effort to find him
before he does any more damage, or you or your loved ones could be
next. It's high time. We need sensible, life-saving road safety
policies, and to get them, we need Spindrift and his lies to be
silenced for good.

Cheers and fives, please, as agreed
