i wonder what would you do if you had a car in front of you and the abs didnt let you brake. head on crash or try to minimize damage and injuries?
....learn not to go around the blind corner so fast on a single track lane I'd guess.

good advice i will have that in mind next time im driving trough a single track lane at 25 miles per hour and a car is coming in my direction. how slow did you want me to go?
Well slow enough that you can stop before you need to drive into a hedge....you know. Like the rest of us try to. And if you get it wrong try blaming your driving rather than ABS...

Assuming that's a blind corner and you didn't just drive into a car you could see for a long time. I'd say 5 or 10 mph ... Clearly 25 was way to quick...

Another case of a driver assuming that the speed limit must be the maximum safe speed, in all conditions, at all times?

no. im well aware of what speed limits are. are you?
and yes. it was a blind corner. i guess you guys would just stand there waiting for the other car to have a head on crash with you?

MigX, I think, that in the unfortunate situation you were in, making the split-second decision to swerve into the hedge and minimise the damage to both cars and injuries to both drivers was the best course of action.

If you were stationary as you suggest. And therefore not travelling at 25 mph but 0 mph after successfully braking. What was the problem with the ABS kicking in? You then pulled forward into the hedge realising the other car couldn't stop?

Is that really what you are suggesting?

Or did you come around the corner too fast (25 around a blind corner on a single track lane is way too fast), see the other car, hit the brakes (ABS kicks in), you can't stop in time, you swerve into hedge.

Of course it is possible the other car was going too fast as well. But you blamed your ABS not the other car...which by the look of it was stationary when you hit it/the hedge.

no i wasnt stoped. i was driving at around 20 miles per hour (that is not fast. the other car was coming in my dirrection at about the same speed. i pressed the brakes and abs didnt let the wheels stop and other car pressed the brakes as well. he was still moving when i climbed the verge. so dont blame it just on me. i didnt said anything about the other car as in unrelevant (as it is anything else as some of you might say)
now back on topic as this went already to far.(reason why i deleted my previous posts)

No offence MigX but it sounds like you were both driving too fast for the conditions. 20 isn't fast, but if you're approaching a blind corner on icy roads you really should be crawling round. Of course, if the person coming the other way is going too fast then it doesn't make much odds...

that was a few months back. so no ice. thank you for the understanding. there is only so much i can do to prevent a accident and being all the day in the road turst me, i do a lot.
in that ocasion i was not counting with the car coming so fast when i was beeping at every blind corner. i know the speed i was doing. about his speed.... i really dont know as my instinct was to get out of the way.
can we get back on topic now?

Reminds me of that story I read once about some college students dismantling their teacher's car while he was away somewhere and reassembling it on top of the college roof. Apparently he had to hire a crane to get it back down, hah!
