This photo was emailed to me a while ago from a mate of mine in New Zealand, along with the following comments about the up and coming parking strategy by the Whangarei District Council (Up North in NewZealand, where Men are Men and the Sheep are Scared) .

"For all the environmentalists – Finally someone is using all that green space you have been lobbying for..
For the gas guzzling 4X4 enthusiasts – Big is good! Just look at what is possible
For the Parking Wardens – Is this considered parking on a grass verge?
For the Scottish – Two spaces for the price of one. Well done.
For the driver of the vehicle – Now that was thinking outside the square…Yet you remained within the circle…A circle is just a square without the restriction of corners.
I like his style."

This seems to be the new health and safety gimmick of the month - we're doing it too.
Great if you're in a van with all your stuff in the back and some security tt makes damn sure you reverse into some space up against a wall.

But 10000000 children died last year due to reversing accidents in work car parks where there are no children! frown

Different slant on bad parking, but still!.

Looks like some scrote nicked the bike, trashed it, and decided to leave it in the middle of a rather narrow road which is clearly identified as an "Emergency vehicle access".

And the poor sod wh lost it, probably won't be able to re-insure it. I hope the scrots tore their Matalan trainers when they fell off biggrin

The Emergency access is for an ambulance to our facilities, and I am expecting a patient within the hour. No I didnt move it, no point in putting my back out, (But my pal did).

A security officer can only advise you. You are ultimately responsible for your own actions if you follow their advice or not. No security officer has the authority to order you to do anything because they are accepting liability upon themselves. So next time someone suggests you move your van politely take the advice on board and do what you want.

Of course, because the police are responsible for private car parks!

wtf are you on about? I am merely suggesting that Mr Plod decides he can do what he likes just because of his job. No one else in the car park thought they could make their own space up.

Anyone could have parked like that. He hasn't parked like that because he's a police officer, he's parked like that because based on the picture we have, it's a quite logical place to park. Claiming 'one rule for them, one for us' implies that they are going to avoid punishment for doing wrong, because they have control over who is punished.

Given that it's a private car park, there's nothing to stop him being given a ticket, same as anyone else. Likewise there's nothing to stop him ignoring it, same as anyone else.

Don't get angry because you've been called on your police-bashing.

Clearly you have problems with the old grey matter if you think that is logical.

Oh please. Are you trying to tell me you've never "created" a space in a private car park where there is clearly enough room for your car despite it not being a designated space? You should see some of the car parks at some of the client sites I've visited. Or, indeed, some of the local train stations (Farnborough is particularly creative).

Why would I need to do that when there are spaces all over this car park?

The policeman could not be bothered to park in one of the available ones and just chose to dump the car on the entry/exit road, closest to the door.

I don't see what the issue with that position is. Okay, it is not a marked bay, but it doesn't appear to be causing an obstruction. Are you sure they weren't on a job dealing with shoplifters or the like?

off topic,

Having not been able to drive for the last month (surgery) to come out for my first drive to see this, I feel somewhat angry. I wouldn't normally do this but to whoever they are that did this (I'm thinking possibly cyclist or tit with shopping trolley)

I hope you get _insert incurable ailment here_ and get trampled over by _insert large object here_ and fired directly into _insert celestial body here_

Errrrr, what am I looking at?

I think if I didn't have to hand the car back in 10 months, I would've been less angry. but yeah I see your point yes
That looks like it will come off with a damp cloth

Ha, they need to eat too. I will concede after seeing the car park on Googlemaps (Don't ask how I found it, I don't live ANYWHERE near) that the parking place isn't ideal, as It causes a visual obstruction for anybody wanting to come out of junction marked with the red arrow.

I personally wouldn't have even bothered to take a picture of that police car and then take the time out to upload it.

but as you have , don't be suprised if people don't agree with you.

I think it isn't badly parked. He could have parked a lot worse than that and you say there were other spaces avaliable, fair enough but maybe those were taken when he parked.

I don't think he is blocking the entance/exit (granted I don't know the location) that much and even if he is then if he wasn't there then the car he has parked next to wouldn't give much room for people to move around, but that is just how the car park is laid out. It would also have to be a big car to struggle to get around that space IMO.

Edit: I have just seen GoogleMap above, it makes it a tad tight but it still isn't too bad.
