I'm about to buy a C32 AMG estate. Debadged. 354 bhp and 450Nm of torque yet looks like a fairly standard Merc.
I'm struggling with this one. The C43 AMG with those kind of power figures maybe, but the C32???
Supercharger
Yep 0-100 standard car...10.8seconds
Ultimate sleeper as most people on here don't even know what it is. Or wrongly assume it's slower than the C43

This wins it for me.. took me 4 hours to read the whole build hehe

He has put 3 engines in 4 times, and is still tyring to get 25psi boost yikes

Never before have I seen so much determination and dedication in a home build and if there was a 'Modifed Petrol Head of the year award' he qualifes to earn it.

Thanks for the link, would make a great Sunday read if you havent already thumbup
he is a hero! The magnitude of his build is lost in this thread...

everyone to their own choices I suppose but what sort of person would put a photo up that shows they bought a 1 series coupe? Almost without doubt the worst looking bmw coupe ever made, utterly revolting looking car looks like it's deformed and should have been put out if its misery before reaching production.

quite like the old merc though!

Agree on the debadged BMW 135i and the Mercedes 500E. As a man who owns an example of both, I can confirm that most people see "small debadged BMW - therefore probably a 116i with big wheels and an unnecessary exhaust" and "big old Mercedes tank". Neither looks like it's packing 300bhp+ or capable of sub-6 seconds to 60. Although both have giveaway exhaust/engine notes of course.

How do it subtly:

It would be odd to like a car enough to buy one and then try to hush the fact up. Say what you like about the styling of the car but the point of the thread was sleepers and a 135i doesn't look like a car capable of keeping an M3 honest.

And before you get too critical, I'd note that there are some fairly aesthetically-challenged cars in your current and back catalogue! For example, I don't for a second knock the ownership of an Alfa 75 but it is possibly the ugliest car Alfa ever made, trumping even the 90 and the SZ. And no Subaru Impreza has ever been a looker.

There is a build thread somewhere (passionford I think?) where someone is dropping a Koensigsegg powerplant into a Mk1 Granada. Now that will be one hell of a sleeper.

eek

I like the idea of a C32 Merc. I appreciate what people are saying about how can a Merc/BM/Audi/Lexi be a sleeper, but on a C-Class of that gen, most people expect them to be a boring (no offence! wink ) C220 CDi driven by an old man. A supercharged 3.2 V6 certainly changes that!! I'd love one... thumbup
Although the same gen, later C55 would be my choice!

There was an equally mad Opel Omega in EVO some time ago when they did a top speed test at Ehra Lessien. It had a blown lexus V8 making a smidge over 1000bhp

True. Though the big fat quad oval exhausts on the C55 are anything but subtle, as is the WW2 fighter-plane soundtrack!

There is a White one receiving a big turbo upgrade @ Unit 18 near me!

20vt has MASSIVE tuning potential, and everyone always dismisses octavias...

See I doubt most 'normal' (hehe) people would notice either of those.

Sitting behind a C55 in traffic, I think most normal people would notice those exhausts! They are fairly in-your-face.

Loose the stickers and mesh off the bumper and this would be a winner (until it explodes into 1000's of tiny piece)
