That's exactly what Classic and Sports Car magazine did when they needed to find a quartet of Blackpool's finest for the cover story of their December 2009 issue. Where better to find them, after all, than on a site that started life 11 years ago as a destination for TVR enthusiasts? I guess it should be pointed out that although the Haymarket puplication C&SC could have looked in just the one place; they did infact make two calls, and also called the Press Officer of the TVRCC. So there has been a parallel thread on the TVRCC forum about this shoot. Many TVR owners are members both here and there, long may it continue.

Graet Pics but when you read the article a couple of historical inaccuracies and an odd statistic. C&SC says that Peter Wheeler ditched the S in the early 90's in favour of the Griffith. Well the S was dropped, but not immediately as it was an entry level model and also the first Wheeler inspired car
Secondly the article states that the Griffith was taken out of production for a year while the AJP was readied. Well an AJP engined Griff was shown at the Motor Show, but conventional wisdom at the time ( I owned Griffs from 1992 -2000)was that the car needed a lot of re-engineering to cope with catalysts ( especially heat dispersal) and as a result production had to cease whilst it was done. Interestingly my 4.00 litre Griff was registered on Xmas eve of teh last year ( I think it was 1992) when you could make non-cat cars. Again conventional wisdom at the time indicated that a batch of cars registered around that time had yet to be built......
Worrying stat is that 1486 Cerberas were built but only 400 remain - Over 1000 written off - surely not!!

Maybe it is the ultra wide-angle lens, but there is some very weird stretching and squashing going on in the top photo! Looks weirdly non-horizontal too, but I guess that's the line of the car park gravel.

Have the sheep of the Brecon Beacons received counselling after enduring the din of 32 TVR cylinders???
A couple of years ago, the Great Northern Gathering went through Sheriff Hutton, north of York, when I was playing cricket there. We heard them coming from about 3 miles away - what a gorgeous noise! We actually stopped the game to watch. There's nothing like a TVR Rover V8; my neighbour's Porsche Boxster sounds like a Flymo by comparison with my Chim.

I've read a few TVR stories recently and although i love the more 'modern' TVRs as much as the next person am i the only one just a little disappointed that the old Wedges never seem to get a mention? A very polarising shape, yes, but my 400se (which regretably i sold 3 yrs ago) sounded like nothing else and looked like nothing IMHO. Very good value too. Nothing like as quick as the later cars of course but still special. Jim

I agree... the Wedge would be my choice as well. Sound great, fairly practical by comparison, and (so I have been told by many owners) much more fun to drive that the others. I know a few who tried the other tvrs and went back to the wedge..... My son has a 400SE and its a great fun car which sounds great. Does seem strange that the wedges are not well known, and most magazines seem to miss them when talking about "the complete" TVR story..... why???

I've no details on the publication date, but there is an article coming out soon in one of the mainstream magazines that features a Wedge so keep a look out for that.

Classic and Sports Car....
I read a clip in their rag where they scoffed at TVR and "we contacted their offices" ... "and never even had a reply"
Soooo I took up the challenge and contacted their offices offering to get a sample of each model together for them - and do you know what -
I NEVER HAD THE COURTESY OF ANYONE RING ME BACK
So there!
PS Decembers issue is on the shelves now.
