Speaking of the R32, I am close to buying one here in Dubai. 2009 model, 35,000km on the clock, DSG, silver, black leather, 4 door. Its up for 16K GBP with FSH and 1.5 years remaining on the warranty.

I would be interested in hearing your views on this car. I hear great things generally.

Many thanks!
All I'd advise is that you make sure you drive an Edition 30 GTi as a comparison. The R32 has won a lot of admirers in the UK due to the 4WD system, and the fact is makes a better sound than mostly everything else on the road. On the downside once it gets moving it feels sluggish compared to the Edition 30, partly due to transmission losses as a result of the 4WD, and partly because it is a heavy car, again down to both the 4WD system and the large engine. It's in the corners though where you'll notice the biggest difference. Putting a large V6 lump in front of the front axle really makes it understeer, and the steering feels lazy and inert. The GTi feels razor sharp in comparison, and with a inexpensive remap is will put out as much power as the R32.
Sound advice Andrew. Thank you.

Looks excellent, I want one! Think Candy White, Viper Green or Black Magic will be the best colours.

get the TSI and have it chipped for same output at only £500
Its been mentioned many times that they are not the same engine. The mechanicals are different.

It's not unusual at all. It's fairly typical Pistonheads these days.
Its a shame really, get the same nonsense from the same s on nearly every thread discussing some sort of new car.

why do so many topics on these type of forums end up as a slanging match?!
I tend to read, rather than post for this very reason

fwiw, i like the looks of the scirroco, and would certainly consider one, but that wouldnt make me slag off everything else just because i would go down this route over another model / marque.

chill out guys

I'm just dissapointed tbh. To be fair though the car is 25 years old smile

hehe RHD Sciroccos did have particularly crap brakes. I think VW made the extension linkage out of cheese.

I agree with Andrew's comments (especially about the noise) , though as an R32 owner I am biased. There are pros and cons to both and in many ways it is hard to argue against Ed 30. In the UK the 4WD is great given our crap roads and crap weather, but the latter is not going to be a problem in Dubai (but then again I don't suppose the cost of petrol bothers you much either)

Stupid money for this. Just looking at nearly new ones and they're still best part of £30k.

You can get a really nice Cayman S for that, or a slightly older 911 Carrera.
