Ok,,,,here are the pics of the beauties that I had to sell because I couldn't afford to keep them..I was able to afford these on a Car Salesmans Salary, but I'm afraid not on a Parts Persons Salary. It brings tears to my eyes.I'm glad to still have the 18 Turbo mind and its probably the best Classic/Modern/Rare Compromise. Damn this recession!!!!!!!

Loving these old Renaults above - especially the 17 & 19. Very cool cars.

For me, it's the 16 - I have a feeling a neighbour had one when I was a kid.

Hi Guys,
I'm new here and all this Renault Talk has finally made me join up. I have been surrounded by Renaults my entire life, and indeed now I work in a Renault Dealership. I had a rather large collection of Classic Renaults including a Fuego a couple of years ago, but I ended selling them after I lost my previous job. I do have my pride and joy left though.
A 1982 R18 Turbo with only 42000 genuine miles. Here is a pic--enjoy--I certainly do.

John

I learnt to drive in one of those! Shame that rust killed it frown

Am I right in thinking the Feugo was the first car to offer remote controlled central locking?

I love this. I must be ill. But I think it is utterly awesome.

My dad had one many years ago, he loved that car...

Somebody else mentioned that earlier in the thread.

I think it was. I'm sure Renault made a real feature of it in the tv ad.

Indeed.

...the first car in the world to have a remote keyless system with central locking that was available from the 1983 model year (from October 1982).[1] The system was invented by Frenchman Paul Lipschutz (hence the name PLIP remote which is still used in Europe)
What a wonderfully onomatopoeic word, "le plip" smile

FUEGO! My first motor. £250 of silver and red sportscar. The red being the filler I had to keep scraping into the body. Someone mentioned the engine being almost in front of the struts on these things. I can tell you mine used to understeer like nothing else this side of a Tesco shopping trolly. I didn't care though, I had a sports coupe. Had fun in the huge boot too. smile

That's fair sickening Johnf2020, did you restore all these cars? I have an 84 fuego turbo and a '79 17ts in galway, but they're not in nearly as good condition as yours look. Goddamn Recession,

Hello everyone!

I have just discovered this website when researching for Renault Fuegos!

I was also very surprised to see a photo of my lovely old sports car, the Renault Fuego GTX, which I had to unfortunately put up for sale.

I don't understand why it was featured as SOTW? Everything mentioned in our sales ad was true! On many occasions other sports cars were 'left standing' much to the surprise of the other car drivers! It was quite something on the motorways to overtake high performance vehicles such as Porsches and the like!!! Was 140mph really possible??!!!

Anyhow this particular SOTW has now been sold to an enthusiast and is off to sunnier climes - oh how I wish I could have been shipped to Aphrodite's island with her!

If I had the opportunity I would definitely get another Fuego!
