RE: Driven: Ferrari 458 Italia

It's a shame they can't engineer a decent air suspension system that would allow it to sit a bit lower (at the front at least) when parked up.
Here it is at launch with the prototype "No Fat Chicks - Car Will Scrape" wing shields..
And here in the real world with regular SF wing shields..

Pics taken from two very different angles would account for it looking much lower in one than the other? Here it is at launch with the prototype "No Fat Chicks - Car Will Scrape" wing shields..

Have to say I really like the look of this, best looking Ferrari in a long time.
Not too sure on all the F1 trinkets, doesn't really appeal to me and while I'm never likely to have enough money to own oneit does sadden me that a proper manual isn't avaialable. That classic polished Ferrari H gate was symbolic in my view.
My only other concern is. Is this Ferrari to good? I mean were, espcially in UK can you actually use it? One or two gears and you are likely at illegal speeds and you'll need to maintain them to make the corners fun. You'd also have to be more than loaded to buy one as a track toy. So I struggle to see the overall appeal of it, bar the appearance and the noise.
But as the prettiest Ferrari in a long long time it gets an 8 from me on the PH O'Meter.

Good point RE where can you use it, but that has applied to cars for decades (think Countach, Mac F1 etc) right up to most modern top-end Porkers, Ferraris, Astons, Lambos, the R8 and GTR etc. You just have to pick your moment to use all the performance. Not too sure on all the F1 trinkets, doesn't really appeal to me and while I'm never likely to have enough money to own oneit does sadden me that a proper manual isn't avaialable. Mostly though, we all buy them because of the feelgood factor - looks, special driving experience etc. Most people on this site who've driven a Fezza, Aston etc at 20mph in traffic were probably smiling likes kids with the keys to a toyshop. I know I always have been. It's obviously also great to put your foot down sometimes as well though....
PS: 8/10 for design, for all up- and downsides pointed out elsewhere.
I see all this talk of Fugly and wonder what planet PH is on atm? I am finally looking at Ferrari and saying wow. They are on it at the moment, California and Italia are both breathtakingly beautiful cars. Just like a lovely looking woman, the Italia has its faults, but the faults fall away compared with the magnificence of the bits they got better than right.
I never used to be a Ferrari lover, always prefering the Astons and the Lambos, but now Ferrari is showing itself to me as a real contender if I am ever in the market for a car which costs more than my houses annual income!
