To my eye the overall shape is lovely but some of the detailing is far too fussy and over-styled. Not that I'd care if it drives as well as everyone says it does.

I find myself wanting to like this, i've loved most other models of Ferrari, excluding the mondial, sorry!

But there is something about this, maybe its due to its more outlandish styling compared to the 360 and 430, but beautiful...... I'm not convinced.

It's a shame they can't engineer a decent air suspension system that would allow it to sit a bit lower (at the front at least) when parked up.

Here it is at launch with the prototype "No Fat Chicks - Car Will Scrape" wing shields..

And here in the real world with regular SF wing shields..

Ferrari could possibly bring back the pop up headlights by getting their clients to promise them (on their grandmothers grave) that they wont hit anyone...scratchchin

I agree it looks wrong from the front but every other angle it looks great. I think the headlight & air intake combo just ruins it. 8/10.

Don't like the front lights, the rest of it looks rather nice though.

Pics taken from two very different angles would account for it looking much lower in one than the other?

Have to say I really like the look of this, best looking Ferrari in a long time.

Not too sure on all the F1 trinkets, doesn't really appeal to me and while I'm never likely to have enough money to own oneit does sadden me that a proper manual isn't avaialable. That classic polished Ferrari H gate was symbolic in my view.

My only other concern is. Is this Ferrari to good? I mean were, espcially in UK can you actually use it? One or two gears and you are likely at illegal speeds and you'll need to maintain them to make the corners fun. You'd also have to be more than loaded to buy one as a track toy. So I struggle to see the overall appeal of it, bar the appearance and the noise.

But as the prettiest Ferrari in a long long time it gets an 8 from me on the PH O'Meter.

Good point RE where can you use it, but that has applied to cars for decades (think Countach, Mac F1 etc) right up to most modern top-end Porkers, Ferraris, Astons, Lambos, the R8 and GTR etc. You just have to pick your moment to use all the performance.

Mostly though, we all buy them because of the feelgood factor - looks, special driving experience etc. Most people on this site who've driven a Fezza, Aston etc at 20mph in traffic were probably smiling likes kids with the keys to a toyshop. I know I always have been. It's obviously also great to put your foot down sometimes as well though....

PS: 8/10 for design, for all up- and downsides pointed out elsewhere.

nope. it looks better from a very low angle. notice how most of the photographers have chosen to shoot it from down low... won't stop it selling!

More flippant comments and bizarre comparisons.

The photos are a mixed bag....but....

...I have a lovely warm feeling this car will be utterly breathtaking in the flesh.

I think its an ugly car, people saying 'best looker since 355' I don't agree with at all, the front end I just don't find attractive at all, far too 'new' and fussy looking, what is going on with those lights?

I think its a backwards step from the F430 IMO

I see all this talk of Fugly and wonder what planet PH is on atm? I am finally looking at Ferrari and saying wow. They are on it at the moment, California and Italia are both breathtakingly beautiful cars. Just like a lovely looking woman, the Italia has its faults, but the faults fall away compared with the magnificence of the bits they got better than right.

I never used to be a Ferrari lover, always prefering the Astons and the Lambos, but now Ferrari is showing itself to me as a real contender if I am ever in the market for a car which costs more than my houses annual income!
