RE: Mercedes SLS AMG Gullwing
Discussion
I don't think it's as good looking as it could be, in all honesty. The original is stunning, but this hasn't quite got it right on the front end, IMHO.
I live just up the road from Mercedes Benz World in Surrey, and was there last weekend. Great place, if you like Mercs - all the required units were there - the original Gullwing, SLR and SLR Convertible.
However, the star of the show for me was the SL63 AMG Black Edition. This thing looked like something out of a comic book. The photos you've seen in magazines and online really DO NOT do this car justice. Simply staggeringly good looking.
Having been a hardcore Lamborghini fan for years, I felt my allegiances being tested by that beast. Seriously - if you get the opportunity go and have a look - it's on the top floor of the place. Incredible.

I think the styling is a disaster;the nose is too long and the tail too short. The side windows are like pillboxes and the square roofline is ugly. The doors are a gimmick- (the 1954 originals were actually needed given the design of the spaceframe).
It is not a design that will wear well, I would think.
