So it's pretty much £1000 per KG saved. That's an expensive diet. The drivers might as well just do Atkins.

Imagine, by going for a massive dump before you get in your car, you could go and buy yourself a new Tag watch

Madness, why didn't they just up the boost and give it 600hp? They must have some concerns about the durability of the engine and gearbox, which would make me think the tunned versions out there won't last very long.

The interersting thing is that you could buy 2 standard GT-R's for that price and have about £10k left over. This means that you could tune one of the GT-R's to £10k worth and would probably get 600-650bhp and lose 60kg. Ok you lose the warranty but you would still be level with the spec V officical car cost wise even if it completely blew to pieces.

That's a bit hard to read, but I hope you get the jist. In summary I think it is as poor value for money as the standard is good value for money.

Good luck if you can afford it and I hope that taking the weight off doesn't affect the grip levels around which the whole car was reportedly designed.
You do know that being heavier does not produce more grip?? What I mean to say is, if extra weight added grip, we'd all be driving around in 12 ton behemoths. But we don't.
Isn't that exactly what we do with downforce?
There's a difference between downforce and a heavier car... a 500 kilo car producing 500 kilos of downforce is not the same as a 1000 kilo car.

ETA: what The Wookie said above.

GTR Vspec II Nur

i wonder how much it will be when they get to the above spec^^^

Seriously expensive but i dont doubt a glorious thing to own......
They'll only build 5 or so, because the GTR VSpec is already exclusive :-)

Why would you bother, you could have the perfectly good standard GT-R and 60k in the bank/off the mortgage/on another very decent car.

60 kilos is a lot but it doesn't warrant the price difference in my book.
If you had 125k to splash out then id say your mortgage is already been taken care of!

let be honest if i had that kinda money id buy simply because i can - this cars not for average joe like me but for people that dont need to check the bank balance- Not saying for one min that 125k isnt a little nuts when 60k would do the same job..

I read that this is the "proper" price. i.e. the £50/£60k prices make a loss. To not make a loss, the car needs to cost £124k.

I think even the Lexus £350k thing is run at a loss as well.

It's all this "halo effect" thing that some manufacturers are going for, not quite sure why.

Even less sure why they cost so much to make either! I guess R&D makes up a lot of it, something the "normal" supercar manufacturers can soak up over their whole range or have already paid for over the years etc....

Can everyone just forget the price for a second and think that you would own one of 40 in the world. Would buy.
40 in Europe. Would be a quite a few more than that for Asia/US markets I would have thought.

Nissan know the price is too high in comparison to the standard car, thats why they keep harping on about exclusivity.

For us mere petrolheads I reckon a standard car + The HKS 570 kit, COBB Access Port, Titanium exhaust/free flow cats and Alcon brake upgrade would be preferable, and a lot cheaper to boot.

Lexus I can understand, but it's going to take a whole lot more than this SpecV thing to make me want a Primera.

Seconded, it's an epic car - but pricing is just mad.

If you can get a carton of orange juice for 60p or a fancy brand for £1.25 are you mad? what i am trying to say.. is that to some people their '£thousands'are like our pennies, and money is no object. some people will not care about what this car can do or cant do.(or if it is pretty much like the standard) They will simply buy it because they can...
Not the best analogy there...

Its more, a carton of orange juice costs 60p, the company remove a bit off the pacakaging and give you a fancy straw and charge you twices as much... So yes you would be mad.

Nissan are charging you basically 60k, for something people would have done with the old R34s for next to nothing, take the seats out, change the exhaust, fits some carbon bits and turn up the boost, not even all the time though!

60kgs isnt a huge ammount, the probably got near that just from removing the rear seats and putting the carbon buckets in.

You can buy two of these for the price of the LFA and there will be a lot less of 'em wink

I drove a Primera once and a IS 2000 - To be honest, I liked the Nissan more! smile

But the cost is £125k.

All the £60k ones are being sold at a loss.

What I meant was that I can understand Lexus creating their stupidly expensive supercar thing. Even selling it at a loss, it should have some sort of halo effect and it will make their brand more desireable. People will think "ooh, I'd like a bit of that" and buy their tarted-up Toyotas.

Nissan though, beneath the GT-R, they really don't have that much in the way of supposed luxury or desireability... I can't see what sort of halo effect they're hoping for by creating ever-more expensive GT-Rs. Like I said, it'll take more than this thing to make me want a Nissan (Primera).

So a car which is better and faster than a 911 Turbo is now the same price as one!

It's an irrelevant car given the numbers being sold and the difference from a standard one (and very poor value in comparison), but I bet they sell them all.
