So, do you think they should have marketed the car under the Infiniti brand (Nissan's "lexus" if you like, they don't sell them over here but do elsewhere)......

At the end of the day, when people ask ''what do you drive'' you'll still have to say '' a Nissan''!!

124k is a joke and i bet they give the buyer a mug with a picture of their face on it when they pick the car up!

I wonder if I spent 65k on tuning my '96 GTR Vspec how close would I get to the new Vspec, pretty damn close I expect.......

I think it would have benefitted the Infiniti brand more than any perceived halo effect for the Nissan brand, yes.

Infiniti is sold in the UK.

As amazing as it may seem to you, some people don't base their worth on the badge their car has.

In a straight line perhaps, but the new car is light-years ahead in terms of ability.

So a car which is better and faster than a 911 Turbo is now the same price as one!

It's an irrelevant car given the numbers being sold and the difference from a standard one (and very poor value in comparison), but I bet they sell them all.
Better? Faster? Perhaps, but only for a limited time, seeing how these beasties love to eat their gearboxes etc.

I great bit of kit, the GTR, but it now makes even less sense at that price point (IMHO). Still, I agree they'll sell 'em all, in the blink of an eye in all likelyhood!

TBH, I hadn't thought of Infiniti, but now you mention it... yeah. But then I'm not the boss of Nissan, he is probably a bit more business-minded than me.

seems a bargain compared to other similar performance cars(lambo/ferrar/etc), and a surely an obvious choice compared to the new Toyota supercar.

If you can get a carton of orange juice for 60p or a fancy brand for £1.25 are you mad? what i am trying to say.. is that to some people their '£thousands'are like our pennies, and money is no object. some people will not care about what this car can do or cant do.(or if it is pretty much like the standard) They will simply buy it because they can...
Not the best analogy there...

Its more, a carton of orange juice costs 60p, the company remove a bit off the pacakaging and give you a fancy straw and charge you twices as much... So yes you would be mad.

Nissan are charging you basically 60k, for something people would have done with the old R34s for next to nothing, take the seats out, change the exhaust, fits some carbon bits and turn up the boost, not even all the time though!

60kgs isnt a huge ammount, the probably got near that just from removing the rear seats and putting the carbon buckets in.
But the cost is £125k.

All the £60k ones are being sold at a loss.
Put simply, I dont believe they are being sold at a loss (Anyone can make it look like they are, add up the cost of all the parts seperatly and tada!.)

And to the person above, I and others think its over priced because its 60k more than the same car with at most 10k worth of changes.

£125,000 jesternutssilly But mostly rofl lots of rofl

It'll sell of course, you can sell 40 of anything, there are easily 40 people who will believe that because it's priced that high it's fantastic.

If you want some crazy pricing facts, the Brembo CCM set up on this car allegedly costs £36,000 if you needed to replace the lot...
Goes some way to explaining the cost difference, but in no way makes the SpecV price sensible.

I think the greatest improvement is the Ultimate Opal Black paint option which is really an updated version of the gorgeous Midnight Purple.

Another notable fact is that Nissan have not released any Nordschleife lap times for it, which infers they have failed to get it to be any quicker than the £60k base car...

IMPOSSIBLE! The forged NISMO wheels must make it faster!

Hehe, you jest, but the standard GT-R that set the 7:26 time was running the NISMO wheels as they are an optional extra...

Must strongly disagree. I think at £60K the standard car is a bargain but the SpecV looks far less so in comparison to Ferraris/Lambos's at £125K. The car itself is hugely capable I'm sure, but lacks many of the things that make a true supercar. Porsche have always had a similar problem with 911 Turbo, massively able but lacking that certain something special to elevate it.

The LFA is a pure halo car and can't really be compared to anything IMHO. Its the quickest way for Lexus/Toyota to try and convince people that they make drivers cars with sporting pretentions. They will almost certainly all be snapped up by collectors who already own a Carrera Gt, Enzo, Zonda, SLR etc.
