The grill is awful and that badge design just sucks!! the whole car as has been said looks somewhat Korean and not very attractive.

I'd take a Lexus, or bimmer over that, and the XF over all of them!!
I'll have the Infiniti over the BMW but the XF over the Infiniti

I am currently looking for a 4/5 year old biggish saloon and there is a massive lurch in prices between E/5/A6 diesels and what were similar priced cars when new-the 300C just about holds its own in saloon form(but oddly not estate),but I'm guessing these things will be down with the Saabs and Cadillacs if they actually sell any new ones to depreciate in the first place.

Looks ok apart from the front radiator grill, as it reminds me of the outgoing Toyota Avensis grill.

5/10

Looks OK, not great but not ugly

Probably not built as well and won't drive as well as the 5-series, but can't say for sure until I've driven one.

Should be a cheap used buy a few years down the line?

Probably built just as well if not better if you ask me.

As for chassis etc I have never driven either, sure to be plenty or reviews though.

I think you're wrong.

When and what car did Merc debut the central controller as replacement for buttons on?

BMW brought it out in Sept 2001 on the 7 series to much derision from public and press.

Please don't argue over what is, to be honest, a sh*t idea. wink

I've never understood this. I keep reading about how the iDrive is "complicated" or "confusing". It;s a damn sight less confusing than a wall of buttons

I don't own an iPod, my mobile phone is 6 years old, and i had no trouble using it without even opening the instruction manual. Franckly you have to be some sort of (literal) retard to find it problematic.

I think its because Clarkson found the original 2003 iDrive system hard to use

It's because it's something else to go wrong. I'll take the row of buttons where I know where they are, what they do and how they work. I don't actually want or need all the crap in an iDrive anyway, I prefer to drive the car than play with it.

After the fuss about mobiles you have to wonder how many accidents have been caused by people messing with iDrive instead of looking at the road scratchchin

That is mainly because the Infiniti brand is not big in Europe.

I am sure it will be a huge success in USA and Asia.

I really don't understand Infiniti over here. Lots of press coverage and articles, new models etc but I've never ever seen one on the road.

If it had a Kia badge on it, I wouldn't view it any differently. It just doesn't have the minerals to mix it with the Germans. I'd have the new C5 over that Infiniti design-wise, and the XF over them all, BMW included.

Both of those are much better looking cars in my opinion.

The Jag does nothing for me either.

Sorry, Herr Car Maker, your new BMW and Mercedes has just lost to the Oriental upstarts.

Where do I sign up?
You have to sign up where the row of people with white sticks are standing.

You'll look like a proper tt in your extended old Hyundai coupe lookalike, still horses for courses I suppose. It would be boring if we all had taste.... wink
