It's a City car, for people who like Aston Martins. If I was in a position to buy one, (couple of DB's in the garage, need something to get around London, avoid the C-Charge) this is the type of car I would go for. It's no worse than a Smart Brabus. That interior is great!

Expect a Lexus badged version soon enough.

biggrin I just gave this a 10 on the PH'o'meter'meter'oh'baby thing.

Surely most PH readers are clever enough to realise(*) that this exists for one reason and one reason only - to lower brand emission averages in line with new legislation. Aston NEED to do this in order to be able to keep making beasts like the DBS without being fined out of existence.

So well done, Aston - please put it into production. I suspect Aston don't care if they sell 0 of them, if it means their range average comes down.

(*) - Wait a minute....you guys actually think this is a genuine attempt at producing a real, cool, small, affordable, attractive Aston Martin??? MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It looks to me like they asked laurence llewelyn bowen to design the interior or a we house on a budget, then went a ahead and jammed the whole lot into a small jap car. They may actually have done this

no it's not it's a city car for people who like Aston Martin.
they won 'coolest brand' and that's what they are exploiting. they are now officially a brand rather than a marque along with ferrari.

to a certain extent it's good for it to exist for 'range CO2' reasons. but no one should buy it for anything other than post modernist ironic reasons. i'd rather have an mx5 vanquish!

they haven;t even changed the headlights FFS.

i wonder when the aygo based rapide will be released!

(i bet Car love this don't they?!)

No of course not, considering it is a real, small, affordable....oh hold on, they've stuck an Aston Martin badge on the front so they 'obviously' don't want it to be considered an Aston Martin do they, MWAHAHA...or something....

This WILL be worse than a smart brabus.. As the smart brabus is actually quite light and nippy (and turbo'd).. this will weigh a ton, and it will be all green friendly.
i hate it.. i would actually rather drive one of those gwizz things.. i mean really, if you saw one of these on the motorway (whatever car your in) you would storm past just to humiliate the driver, and give the wan**er sign out the window.. i would anyway.

Hang on, isn't the average a weighted average based on sales???

...in which case, for this to hit the point, they actually need to find victims to sell this car to!

Oh - one way this won't damage the brand-values too much is if they only offer it to existing AM owners...and at that it probably doesn't matter much whether it's a DB4 or a DBS...

Makes you wonder if the government will change the rules to say X number of cars have to be sold otherwise it doesnt count towards your average- having said that, if they do put this into production i've no doubt they'll sell loads, most people probably wouldnt know it was based on an iQ.. or even what an iQ was.

People may not know it's based on the iQ, but they will know that it's stupendously expensive for a city car. I can't see it selling many except to existing Aston owners who want a matched set.

Wouldn't it make more sense to brand this as an 'IQ - by Aston Martin' ? In my opinion this would be far more credible.
