RE: Lotus Exige S Type 72
Discussion
It does look stunning, and it is a nice feeling to know there are few exactly the same as yours on the road. I don't really get the problem with them trotting out special editions, who cares if its essentially a limited edition paint scheme, it looks great and knowing you are driving one of just 20 is nice too. Hopefully all the design and engineering team are working on the Evora S and Esprit!

so why not just offer the new paint scheme and interior bits as an option to every new buyer since there's no fundamental change in the car?
That sounds like a good idea to me. Offer it for 1 year only and make it limited edition in that way. Owners may end up with one of only 48 or something. The boys at Lotus just gathering round together...
'Jeez, chaps, we missed a bl**dy golden opportunity!
We could have had a limited edition Red and Green Snowflake (bit like the 'ol Metalflake finish of the 70s) Christmas Exige. Sod it!'
'Never mind, any other ideas besides the F1 Exige?'
'Yeah, how mad can we get... how about a limited edition GE Exige?'
'GE Exige?'
'General Election Exige'!

Even though I'm a Lotus fan. They will never will another F1 championship ever again.
Unless proper big money is invested in the F1 team which is only Lotus by name anyway. Maybe it is a way of selling more special edition Elises and Exiges

There's been one of these in my local Lotus showroom for a month or so now. Looks very nice, but I'm not a fan of the alloys. Prefere the standard Exige ones.
I agree, I think multi spoke alloys and maybe a little bit bigger may improve the look no end...Silver993tt said:

Off the top of my head; because then you wouldn't have to choose now. I think the limited editions thing is a tad annoying, but it works in other areas, and if it gets sales in, then who are we to argue? One thing I'm not looking forward to is any facelift of the Elise- The S2 is one of the best looking cars ever made IMHO, and still looks futuristic today. I just don't see what you could replace it with that wouldn't look a massive step back.
