The sag. It's a beast and no mistake.
No it isnt, its a pussycat that someone with no more driving experience or talent than a 25yr old girl who has only driven a rover 214 can drive with the ease that lets you take a nap as a passenger.

Where do people get this rubbish from that it is a beast?

Because not many people have spent much time behind the wheel of a late model TVR and thus believe senor Clarkson. They are all easy to drive and won't bite unless you have long legs to stretch that throttle (luckily the other half is only 5ft 4 hehe ).

Of the two, raw gut feeling of enjoyment and driver satisfaction, the Sagaris without flinching.

In reality, I'd take a Corvette Z06 which falls between the two and offers far more peace of mind.
Interesting alternative - especially since Justin the OP has had a TVR so this might be a nice option to try out for a bit?

This!

Or if you really want an ugly fast saloon, get the R34 Nismo - FAR cooler than the overly complex R35 weakling

To the OP: you've obviously got the TVR bug niggling away. How about you get the Sag run it for a year or two and then simply sell it on and then buy a GTR.
The GTR probably is the easier car to live with, but enjoy the Sag whilst they're still around and servicing/parts is still feasible.

I'm not saying you won't be able to get TVR parts in the near future, just that eventually they will dry up.
Very good idea!

Thanks for the replies. Must admit the Corvette and R34 don't do much for me

They are very different cars, the TVR will obviously be less practical but seeing as you didn't specify picking up flat packs from Ikea as a necessity I don't think it should really be a priority. The Sagaris would feel more special more of the time and surely that is the point? Sag al the way.

The Sagaris is jaw droppingly good looking.
The GTR could be any euro box to the untrained eye.

Out of the 2 cars mentioned i would take the Sag 100x out of 100
However, I would personally choose a 355.

I'd look at some of the horror stories about GTR repair bills. I don't know if they are the exception or the rule but christ do some of the parts seem expensive.

what would you rather pilot: a spitfire, or a eurofighter?
I couldn't have put it better.
Two polar opposites of cars - it's like choosing between sushi and a giant big steak.

If I was ever to spend that sort of money on a car it would have to be something a bit special. Yes, the Nissan will be more reliable, more comfortable and probably faster, but to me it just looks like another Japanese sports saloon - however beautifully engineered and crushingly capable it may be.

So, for me it'd be the Sagaris every time. And something cheap, reliable and economical for whenever it was being tempramental.

Ignoring the usual idiot claptrap, they are both entirely different propositions.

I wouldn't have a GT-R just as a weekend toy (because I think that is missing the point) and I certainly wouldn't have a Sagaris if I actually needed a car to go anywhere in.

Its not going to be a weekend car, it will be getting used everyday, but I don't need to drive to work. The wife has a Fiat Punto which I can use for skip runs/IKEA etc

The Sag is extremely practical and the hatch makes it brilliant. I HAVE used it for picking up flat pack stuff from IKEA and wood flooring for Wicks. Not to mention transporting five foot xmas trees, cats around the country and the weekly shopping at tesco.

Ive also run a back to back comparison with a Z06 and the Vetter isnt in the same league as the Sag on English roads. The wide and shallow boot is also not as practical as the Sags. I had the Vetter outside my house and the salesman had to endure a slightly unusual roadtest as I loaded suitcases into it.

Any other myths half truths and drivel I can dispel for you all?

Oh and I also used the Sag to take stuff to the skip and as my delivery vehicle when I was doing pamphlet runs.

Yes, can you tell us which one is still in production?

If it's purely for fun and an 'event' each time you drive it, it has got to be the TVR! yes

Sagaris for me - it's an event to drive one every time, plus it looks wild.

For me it would have to be the Sagaris as the GTR just doesn't do it for me. I know it's a hugely capable car and would leave the Saggy for dead but it's just too souless.
You've owned a T350 though, would a Sag be a totally different ride? I can't comment as a Saggy is one of the few TVRs I've never driven - it is an identical place to sit in though.
