If you been to Thailand, and been off the Tourist trail you gotta love car spotting out there!

I have seen everything from Murcielagos to Hillman Avengers out there and complete odditys like a Citreon CX on a 18" lift (monster truck style) and a chassis with a seat and steering wheel, looked like old Merc or Hino chassis driving about.

If you are at the back of Seekong, near the Kings Park there is a forecourt there just full of old Caddys, Corvettes, Mustangs Trans-ams, well worth a look, he also has a few Big Blocks kicking around there too.

Even the King was partial to racing Maseratis' when he was younger.

I am a member of www.bangkokclassiccar.com, which put up some great displays around Thailand and some track days too.

Going back out in May, so if you see a Black Vigo D4D with Dog shredding bullbars (no joke) and a GB sticker on the back give me a toot!
Let me know when you are back here and we'll go for a beer.
Indeed, 22nd of May I fly back, will be in Petchaburi and Krabi while I'm there and if time Koh Chang.

Where you at?
I'm in central business district of Bangkok, my apartment is next door to the Four Seasons.

A real DB9 would cost 3-4 times as much in Thailand because of the taxes and stuff, so it would be reasonable to make your own.

Going off at a tangent, anyone remember the old Performance Car article when they took an 8-series BMW and Calibra, parked them somewhere like Canary Wharf with the badges all hidden and asked people which car they liked the look of the best?
I remember that. I think it was Notting Hill though, not Canary Wharf.

Anyone know the outcome?

Yep, the BMW was stylish (I believe the term now is bling bling) and the Calibra was just another Vauxhall!

What some folks probably don't know, is that finding a good sports car in Thailand at a sensible price is almost impossible. However they have many workshops that can do quality work for next to nothing compared to the UK or the States. My younger brother wanted a Mercedes CE coupe, but couldn't find a good one at a sensible price, so he had a Thai coach builder convert a solid but mechanically shagged 4 door into a 2 door. Purists would shudder, but the old 4 pot. Benz lump was replaced with a modern twin cam 16 valve Toyota inline 6. We thought he was mad, but the results look almost "factory original" from 20 feet away. Performance is also quite impressive all done the project cost about £7,000 ! !

His wife hates it and calls it the "lubbish car" rofl
